💥MAJOR correction - Partition wasn't between Muslim Pakistan and Hindu India but Muslim Pakistan who thought they can't coexist with Hindus and a Secular India comprising of Hindus, Muslims, Christians etc. It is reflected in the present day population of the 2 Nations too. While India today has almost as many Myslims as Pakistan = 200 million... Pakistan's non Muslim population has shrunk from 15% to 1%

India no longer considers Pakistan as a formidable threat, all eyes are on leveling up with the Chinese now.

9:14 As an Indian I would like to clarify that I do believe India is not afraid of any dragon or whatever animal that is; if any misadventures occurs on our territories, we won't step back to take on China or pakistan or both combined. Aksai Chin is Indian territory and India will take it back one day.

Critical Correction: Indus water treaty doesn’t allocate water equally to both nations. India is only allowed to use only 20% of the water and India has to share 80% of the water to Pakistan through this this treaty. More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indus_Waters_Treaty
  • My grandfather moved to india with his family after the partition when he was young. They lived in Bangladesh at the time and had to smuggle themselves upriver on a small fishing boat. Their only possessions were my great grandmother’s jewellery and they survived on that and did a few odd jobs for months until my great grandfather got a job at a railway station. They lost their land, homes and all their savings. It was a hard time for everyone.

Country for Hindus was not created from partition It was created for Muslims. Dozens of ethnicities, languages and religions still exist in India. Britisher's biggest blunder!

Major correction- The Indus water treaty gives Pakistan 70% of the water flowing from the Indus river tributaries in terms of volume, the number of tributaries are divided equally but the tributaries given to Pakistan hold a significantly higher amount of water, leading to droughts in the Indian region.
  • If u study the politics of india and Pakistan, there's a huge difference, india always wanted to be a secular prosperous state and Pakistan always wanted to be an Islamic Republic. They both succeded, india doing well independently and indians doing good in every sectors all around the world. Pakistan also doing good in global jihad and terrorism, must not forget ISIS got most of It's weapon, training and funds from Pakistan.

I will admit India has slipped sometimes such as when they had an authoritarian government under Indira Gandhi but I would still root for India in the event of conflict with Pakistan In India you've had non Hindus become, billionaires, celebrities, government officials and military servicemen leaders You cannot do the same in Pakistan. Over there non Muslims are officially recognized by the central government of Islamabad as not people but instead a only ever afforded a condescending tolerance and thats on a good day
  • During 65 war there were territorial changes . Indian soldiers were almost at Lahore when ceasefire was announced and US being US , asked both countries to pull back to their original borders . Only because its adorable ally Pakistan was at the losing end .

As Indians ,we are careful about Pakistan but we are more increasingly worried about China's role if war breaks out between the 2 countries and the possibility of all out 2 front war 🤔. Would like an analysis between India and china war ,though unlikely but possible because of increasing Chinese incursions . By the way , this was a very good and easy analysis of the complex issue 👍

This conflict is the perfect example of how nuclear deterrence and MAD paradoxically prevents large scale wars and destruction better than any treaties or economic integration or other incentives could.
  • One correction Simon, The "Cold Start Doctrine" genesis lies in the 1987 Operation Brasstacks, conducted under the Indian Army COAS General KV Krishna Rao. It was put on hold in the 90s but in 2001 after Indian Parliament Terror Attack, India mobilized over 700k Troops along the International Border, but it took nearly 2 months to achieve the offensive posturing while Pakistan managed to mobilize 300k of its own troops. After Months of Skirmishes and Artillery Duels, India had to back down (under US Pressure). India's performance in the 2001-02 Border Standoff with Pakistan (codename: Operation Parakram), forced the Indian Armed Forces to re evaluate their strategy and restart the Cold Start Doctrine.
  • @CCCP_Again
As a Pakistani, trust me we don't want a war on the contrary our survival is now dependent on our relations with India. If we aren't able to work things out with them our economic troubles will eventually break our country.
  • @adarsh10137
In the 1971 war, U.S.A and U.K had come to fight with India from Pakistan's side and was also supporting Pakistan's genocide in United nations. India got 93000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered even after U.S. and U.K came. Because USSR supported that Time INDIA.
  • By the way Simon not to sound like a Hindu ultranationalist or British apologist but the idea of partition itself was explicitly stated by Mohammed Jinnah for Pakistan
  • @Harshh..294
