chainsaw kickback , short bars beware, "Stand up and Buck

chainsaw kickbacks can have life changing results. I demonstrate why short bars can be more dangerous than long bars , and ways to operate a short bar so as to minimize the obvious dangers of a chainsaw with a short bar

As someone who is currently recovering from a kickback, I can't stress the importance of chaps enough. I severed my quad tendon and it has cost me 3 months of work so far. A Stihl MS311 kicked off a root on the backside of a stump and crammed itself into my leg. If I had been wearing chaps, I wouldn't have needed more than a band-aid. Not wearing chaps cost me dearly as I needed close to 50 stitches and 30 staples. Y'all wear your chaps EVERY SINGLE CUT!

I have just recently been reminded on the seriousness of kickback, due to a co worker of mine losing his life to a saw kicking back and cut his neck open. Thank you Buckin for sharing this very important subject matter!

I don't even own a chainsaw--yet. The positive vibe is strong, and the message+experience based instruction means I always leave with something!

"learn yer' tip" -advice for many areas of life: literally, figuratively, emotionally, and spiritually.

Thanks for the great "tips"! All puns aside, great info to keep folks safe when running their saws.

when I'm cutting, I keep an eye on my saw dust coming off the chain. When I'm cutting "dirty" wood, I'll file up the chain, but not my rakers. I'm getting about three sharpening s before I do the rakers. If I see small, short chunks of wood, I stop and file my rakers down MAKING A squealing SOUND as I file! NOT any more! I'll be filing at an angle from now on. Great learning from a veteran woodsman.

Thank you for teaching this old dog how to use my first chainsaw. Thank you for always remembering to be kind and to remind others. Kindness is a choice regardless of how we're being treated. Love conquers all. It just does. Peace and grace to you Buckin as well as anyone who might read this.

You saved me from a mishap!
I always use the 14" saw for bucking because its the smallest motor. I thought that would be safest.
    Thanks Buckin!

Only problem with coming back after a four week holiday in the mountains without internet is all the Buckin' Billy Ray videos you gotta catch up on. It is kind of a sweet problem, though. :-)

Sometimes I imagine that AvE looks somewhat like Billy Ray.
