As an almost 64 year old who looks in the mirror and sees her grandmother looking back at her, I am reminded again, that old age is not for the faint hearted... But it is a privilege. I have been young, I've been a mature, confident mother, now I get to master wisdom, and I think you do it better when you look the part. And it's cheaper!
  • I love that Madonna said that people making fun of her awful plastic surgery is ageism, when in reality being so scared of old age that you butcher your face is the ultimate sign of ageism.

This doctor is so non-judgemental and empathetic. I really love the bedside manner.
  • I am a couple of years younger than Madonna. I often say that there comes a point when "the boat springs leaks" faster than you can plug them, and you can reach a point where the face/body parts just aren't cohesive. Gravity is relentless, bone density thins, tissues break down beyond the ability for the body to regenerate. Looking "good for my age" and being as healthy as possible is the goal for me, not looking eternally 20.

Madonna is accusing people of being "ageist" but she's the one who's trying to literally stop age from happening. She is the one who is terrified of it. So who really is the ageist here?
  • @Ruby_Sterling
“Keeping Madonna as beautiful as she is”… you are really kind.
  • As a man who had an almost life ending work injury in 2000 at aged 19, I’ve now had THIRTY surgeries to rebuild my broken body. I have absolutely no comprehension of how anyone could put themselves through surgery, no matter how small, when it isn’t actually needed. Grow old gracefully people.

I dont want to be superficial or criticize anyone for their beauty choices, but I think these videos are helpful. We should know that this isnt natural so we aren't so hard on ourselves.
  • Love how you did this video in such a dignified and respectful way instead of shaming or degrading the artist. Real professionalism.

I'm 63 yrs old. I was always told when younger how pretty I was and a good figure by both men and women. I still had hang ups about my body but always thought to embrace my youth and I was always conscious it wouldnt last and people need to be more than about looks. It doesnt feel that great looking old but I am healthy, still alive and still feel young inside.

The 2009 photo is the last time you can see the face she was intended to grow into gracefully, and where she should have stopped. Past that point the work highlights her age instead of diminishing it. From 2020 on she looks like a different person and it has to be explained to people who she is.

“The neck never lies” The same goes for the hands. It amazes me that people who use plastic surgery on their face to “look younger” it’s always the hands that tell the truth and, they are never addressed.
  • @hebneh
The problem is - doing all this stuff to your face does not end up making you look young and beautiful and glamorous. Instead it makes you look increasingly strange and asymmetrical and puffy. People no longer compliment you but instead discuss how disturbing you appear.
  • I KNOW YOU'RE NOT READING THIS BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SPEAKING SO SLOWLY IʼM LEARNING ENGLISH AND I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOU SAY. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, KEEP IT UP

Very interesting video Dr Linkov! My cousin is also a plastic surgeon in NY and sitting talking with him is equally fascinating, the details you guys notice is SO impressive, I know, its your job but still very impressive! So glad to have found your channel
  • I am viewing this in 2024 (2 yrs later) and she has taken it to a whole new level now and looks as most of them do, an alien.

My daughter seems obsessed with wrinkles. She wanted me to get Botox and consider surgery. I'm going on 80. My reply was: " I've earned every one of these wrinkles. I'm keeping them. End of conversation." However, she is always buying me creams for my face and body. I'm sure a normal person would start to get a complex, but I consider myself just fine. It can't be that bad I've had two marriage proposals in the last 3 years....but just not ready for another marriage. I'm content and happy on my own with my wrinkles.

When I was in highschool, I wanted a nose job. I went to get a consultation and was close to doing it, but I was so afraid of it being botched or my face drastically changing that I decided to work on my confidence and self esteem instead. I think this decision has helped me accept aging as well.
  • Thank you for being educational, fair, and very kind to the people whom you're describing! I really appreciate learning about how faces age in terms of muscle tissue, bone density, etc., and what that looks like on an aging face with or without surgical or nonsurgical methods. My grandfather is turning 98 this year and I've been looking at pictures from when he was younger--what's really fun for me is to still see how he greatly remains himself even though he's undeniably older. I don't think I'll age nearly as well as he has simply for the fact that I have less melanin protection, but I hope if I can take good care of myself and am lucky enough to make it anywhere close to his age that I can still see myself, too.

Thank you for creating this video. I'm sure many others like myself kind of guessed shed had work done, so its really kool to hear it from an expert :)
