  • Your videos helped me a lot as a non-swedish user. I've visited Sweden two times, I just fell in love with everything, especially the language. When I miss it, I watch your videos to hear again the beautiful accent of your country.Thank you very much and keep up the good work! Oana from Romania

I am enjoying all of your videos, having just discovered them tonight. I lived in Sweden from 1966-1968. I tried to learn the language and the culture as best I could, but I keep learning and learning all these years later. I used to think I spoke very good Swedish, but hearing you and other native speakers, I have a long way to go. I think Swedish is very difficult to speak correctly, but a very beautiful language. I like the discussion of Swedish vowels and how you compare the long and short vowels using similar words. You sound a little Skånsk, but you said you were from Karlskrona. I'll have to listen more. My morfar came to America from Sweden. He was from the Landskrona area, so maybe I should learn the accent.

I am an American in Sweden. And as such, I propose that there are only 5 vowels (vokaler) in Swedish. E, I och Y all sound the same, so they are one. O, Å och U (då o då) also sound the same, 2. A and Ä both sound like the American A in different circumstances, but we'll go ahead and call them 3 and 4. And Ö (5) is in a field all its own. Öl is pronounced Earl. Just ask my family and friends! These videos are great! Jag är väldigt glad att jag hittade dem! Du är grym! ;)

This is probably gonna sound rude, but I think it would be good if you pointed out that you speak skånska, a specific southern Swedish dialect, and that the majority of Swedes do not sound like this.

Oh my God, I'm trying sooooo hard to get this down. It's very difficult when you are raised speaking American English, but people like you, Swedish Lad, help so much! Thanks for making all these videos. Best regards from Maine!

I love when people pronounce english words with swedish accent. Most swedish people actually don't do it very often since they are able to talk in decent english mostly but sometimes it happens. Also to him, i noticed. Like when he says "i see it," refering to his twitter accent. I think it Sounds cool ^^
  • It's so difficult to learn Swedish because every dialect pronounces things differently. But I'm determined to learn Swedish! It makes sense considering that I'm moving to Sweden next year! Yay!
