People saying “the artists should’ve known”, either didn’t come up in the 80’s and 90’s, or just don’t understand the art of manipulation and lack of resources. There was no internet, a lot of the artists back then were young and a lot of them had very little education. The CEO’s knew this and took advantage. Fast forward 30-40yrs. later, there’s mass information sharing to see the correct avenues, more educated people in urban environments, including artists. BIG difference….Artist back then were 100% INTENTIONALLY taken advantage of. EDIT: I see a few of you (primarily young folks born in different eras) don’t understand my comment. “Well others knew better, so should they have…”……Sure, some may have, but they were the anomaly, and also perhaps the lucky ones of the industries. What don’t you understand about intent from a conniver?
