I can smell the summer of '78 when I hear this one!

This song was largely responsible for the prevalence of saxophone music in 80s songs and movies. It hits so good.

R.I.P. Gerry Rafferty and Raphael Ravenscroft (Sax).

The great Gerry Rafferty. His songs are superb. Only by listening to his huge catalogue of songs can you truly appreciatehis true musical & lyrical genius. RIP Sir. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
  • Lovely reaction...46 years later, and still fresh...my youth...right there..😊
  • The saxophone is the woman in question crying, while the guitar represents the hardening of her heart as she processes the situation maybe while traveling and the keyboards represent the uncertainty of the past present and future Strange how pain can be magical isn’t it?

You look exceptionally gorgeous today! Wonderful, unique song, really sets a mood.

Love this song! Especially the sax solo. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".
  • I discovered Gerry Rafferty shortly after graduating high school in 1978 and it was very popular on the radio stations in that time. Over four decades later, it hasn't aged one bit. It defies stereotypical categorization for a specific era. This is timeless music. Luv ya, Emma! 🥰

One of the ultimate summer driving songs. Great memories 😊
  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Great for cruising in a car. "Right Down The Line" is another great Rafferty classic.
  • Great song, the 80's was a great decade for music! The Sax is such a sexy instrument, and serious!
  • I discovered this song due to the instrumental solos, they are just awesome! Perfect if you want to wind down.
  • @Roddy1965
That's a super classy and well measured guitar solo, too.
  • @fredbasic1918
"Right Down The Line" is another great Gerry Rafferty song.
  • Al Stewart "Year Of The Cat" is the same soundtrack of the 70s hit. You'll love the song and Al's voice.

Drank with Gerry in 1978 along with Frankie Miller in a pub called Burns Howff in Glasgow, Scotland.
  • Great 70's song. Has a powerful Sax intro. Excellent review by the beautiful Emma!!!❤️😍🥰💞💘
