I think this kind of rendition of bach is what is needed to let more people hear bach.

Been listening to Bach for many years, and have only just know stumbled over this serene and beautiful piece. No matter how long you listen to Bach he just keeps on giving! On those occasions you can really be awestruck by his massive output. He must have had an otherworldly genius and work ethic.

It's like we are hearing music from the heavens. This is on repeat on my playlist. Thank you Vikingur!

I accidentally hit the dislike option, when I thought I could read what the tiny minority thought about this CD. I absolutely love this pianist's way with Bach--he understands the architecture as well as the sensuous, poetry, wit, and inventiveness that other keyboard artists tend to miss or think of as too romantic,. Olafsson quotes a wise man in an essay that comes with the DG album: "Bach is a free country," Yes! When an album is playing in the background, and you suddenly feel tears welling up, you know that something quite special is going on!

I am absolutely perplexed by this unbelievably wonderful transposition of the organ composition to the piano. A newly won piece of music! Astonishing!

This whole album is transcendent.

Good God how is it that this music can melt my cold bitter heart and make me want to hug the entire universe? Thank God for Bach, the most sensitive human being ever to live.

His ability to combine an intelligent, logical interpretation with an emotional expression that does not fall into sentimentality is amazing. I am very impressed with his interpretive and technical skills. So beautiful!

Just beautiful. Haunting. And Mr. Olafsson is a wonderful musician. Such a great touch!

Sublime. 5 minutes and 26 seconds of musical perfection.

In my humble opinion, Bach's music is as prime number is in math and in universe. If it is a music, then it is made of Bach's musical principle in its core. Air on G played in a horribly crowded escape train, full of refugees running from a war, made everyone cry in peace, who never heard of classical music in their lives.

I had no idea Bach's music could be so lyrical until I listened to Olafsson's play. Truly beautiful..

Here he comes - our brother Vikingur - as a new and true revelation from the far, far North... But this time - unlike the vikings :-) - with the notes (sounds and chords) of true love ... May the good Lord bless you!
