Master Roshi: "Always remember these words: Work hard! Study well! And eat and sleep plenty. That is the way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war!"

You’ve seen his punishing padwork with his students in the viral videos on social media. You’ve gawked at the bold display of 'sak yant' tattoos across his chest and back, and feel intimidated.

As scary as he may look in the ring, Ajarn Gae is a dedicated Muay Thai trainer who cares about the improvement of the fighters under his charge.

In this interview, you get to see a side of Ajarn Gae that you may not have seen before. He shares intimate stories of his life, and talks about the disappointment of his shattered childhood dreams that turned him into monkhood for 10 years.

One thing that comes through is that Ajarn Gae absolutely LOVES Muay Thai. He loved fighting, he loves teaching it, he wants to make his students strong. When his students fight in the ring, he says, “my heart fight together.”

Will you be his next Goku and Krillin?...

You can see the fire and passion in his eyes when he talks about Muay Thai. Struggles to express himself in his limited English, but the message he gets across is no less poignant. Really, if you don’t do what you love, life hasn’t much meaning.

my lord i wish this man all the blessings i never seen such heart im speechless

It hurts so much in the heart when Professor Gae speaks of the lack of having gone to the end and conquered his dream of being a champion, every word is loaded with much sadness, otherwise it becomes evident how he stands along with his fighters such as " he fights "their struggle. We get older and become more sensitive and empathic with the next.

“I want people strong, fight not easy. Fight not lie” Man, my coach had the same mentality and saying. This makes me respect both trainer Gae and my coach 1000x more
  • Never saw a man who is so at peace with himself and at the same time can beat the sh*t out of you in a very violent way..
  • after hearing his story and seeing just how humble he is is a real wake up call. he has so much integrity! what an inspiration.

Humble person.... The last part made me feel so warm when he talks abt he wanted to hv a farm and stay comfortably outside of the city. A simple lifestyle that all he wants....it reminds me of Buakaw's village.....no matter how famous are you....you nvr forget where you came from.

This video should be something that everyone should watch before they consider becoming a fighter. This video is inspiring and really makes me want to train to my full potential.

If you ever feel doubt or scared to go to new places with foreign language, i want you to remember this video. We're able to understand him just fine.

When you look up the words 'pure passion' in the dictionary, you'll see Master Roshi's pic next to it
  • You should let him speak in Thai and then translate his side of the story to English.

Teared me up for real. I used to breakdance hardcore for 6yrs and have already quit for many years now. I remember that sort of determination and drive. Its all gone now. I cant even do 90% of my moves anymore, but the lessons stay in me.
  • This is the true spirit of martial arts. It's so much more than a fight. It's about love... of the sport, the people, the work, the community it creates. Seeing how much he loves MT makes me love it even more. Many thanks to trainer Gae!

This touched my heart. 😭 It made me want to conquer the world though. Great insight on this wonderful man. I always wondered what his mentality was seeing just how hard he pushed his students. You can tell he cares with all his soul.
