HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION our very first under the heat geek umbrella.

Published 2024-04-21
Our very first Heat geek heat pump installation over in Shirley near Solihull. Vaillant arotherm plus 5kw with joule 200 litre high gain cylinder with all radiators upgraded and some pipe work upgrades. Took a full week and learnt so much about the time involved and material costs. Didn’t quite go according to plan as the cylinder needed to be housed in loft due to width and extra pipe work needed upgrading that was found during the installation to make sure we had the right flow rates but nothing we couldn’t overcome.

Great job and good to hear it's a HeatGeek guaranteed to work, install.

Nice job. Small nitpick but maybe try filming landscape next time :-)

We already have solar and batteries. Insulated to achieve a EPC of A. Got a EV and now we are looking for a HP and at the age of 67. It’s not to get a quick ROI but to reduce our carbon footprint. One thing I liked was the water cylinder in the loft. We would probably need a 200Ltr tank. Do you have to do any strengthening of the joists to enable the tank to go in the loft?
  • In Birmingham, you would wake up one morning to find that heat pump was gone, the running costs, then Be zero

Vaillant Arotherm... What's the refrigerant? If it's one of their new propane models how did you work around the guidance not to site it near a window?
  • We sincerely invite you to visit our booth NO.Hall 5,5F81  in 25-27 June in NEC Birmingham.😊
  • It looks to me that someone has seriously devalued the price of their house.

The workmanship and engineering look great and well thought out but the location at the front of home is never going to be accepted by my wife. An overview of why the owner was upgrading and ball park costs and anticipated savings, years to pay back. I think a lot of people are looking at these systems and are struggling justifying the capital outlay, the fact the government are pushing it is even more worrying as they don’t have to pay when it doesn’t work out, like the depreciation a lot of people are suffering with their EV’s.

If any neighbours hear it they’ll know where to look

Why on earth would you put that at the front of your house

That looks awful, couldn't you have put it at the side or back? Let us know how much it cost to supply and fit and how much it costs to run every day for a month or two. That will put moat people off. People refuse to give these figures, especially running costs.
