Tensions are rising between the US and China after warships from the two countries were involved in a near collision in the Taiwan strait. CNN's Will Ripley has more. #CNN #News

Hear what the Chinese have to say = 2 random people in the street and talk for 2 seconds? Nice job CNN, not a clickbait at all.
  • @Haha-tn6qp
The spokeswoman said Chinese strait at the beginning😂

That second guy did not say what the translation said. At least the first part that you could hear the actual Chinese, he was commenting that "everything right now is provocations." this could mean a negative view depending on the context that CNN muffled, but he definitely did not say "I don't like the US, all bad things are caused by the US."

Can you imagine China warships sailing close to the US coasts… It would be massive news in the US and they’d probably send the full naval fleet after them.
  • @daporkoil1
Sailing your warships a 100 miles from a country’s shore while your own country is thousands and thousands of miles away on the other side of the world, then calling that country provocative is insane.

I call it very professional, skillful, strategical maneuver

Commons sense tells me that brandishing a shotgun in front someone's house that is 30 miles from your home to demonstrate where you are standing is a public sidewalk is NOT a good idea!

I'm in the Philippines right now, I can tell you that from the northern island of Luzon, it's only around 150 mi to Taiwan, several new United States Navy bases are appearing around Philippine islands, everyday. On local Philippine news, we're seeing conflicts heightened between allied naval forces and Chinese naval forces. Forces. People in the Philippines are genuinely afraid right now.

There is absolutely no reason for these 2 countries to fight. The world is big enough for both of them. They, especially the US, need to figure out a way to work together and treat each other with respect, and not a who's superior/inferior you-gotta-listen-to-me attitude. Taiwan, for example, the US just can't leave them alone, even though they recognize the island as legally part of China, the US media omits all of this, leading to more confusion among the American public. Same thing with Hong Kong, the media confuses people where they think Hong Kong is still somehow independent, the US state department just couldn't leave them alone, forcing China to pass a national security law. The US ended up achieving nothing. Nothing was gained. And the US didn't take in any Hong Kong residents or refugees during that time either.

It's sad that war seems to be an inevitable part of human life. I'm an American that went to China back in 2017 with my close friends. We went to Beijing, Guangxi, and Shanghai. Guangxi was the most beautiful place I have seen on Earth. The people in China were not any meaner or nicer than the people in America. Aside from a few cultural differences they were largely the same. Just average people caring for their families. Two of my best lifelong friends are American citizens who were born in China. It's sad that despite average people having no cause for conflict, average people are sent to war against eachother.

But why is US trying to create a situation in another country's back yard.
  • I love how US warships are halfway across the world off the coast of china, and china are the ones who are being agressive.
  • Please DON’T ask the avg American what they think of China. Most of them don’t even know where it is.
  • @PinstripePride85
Not sure what but something is going to happen. And it will be bad

War tensions are just not something that are good for the people. I know we need to stand our ground and show strength. However, think we need to be trying to make positive negotiations on behalf of all the people of the world. It’s not the citizens who want conflict. Just the leaders.

Countries /power-centers cannot lecture individuals and groups to "unite" and themselves exhibit cold war style hostility left, right, and center with other nations.

Chinese economy is weakening. CCP needs and external boogieman. Preservation of the regime is paramount
