Glasses are a disability we can see and because we don't really think of poor eye sight as a disability unless there's full blindness. Glasses being a symbol of ugliness is ableism and its just very very sneaky and subtle.

As a gal in her mid-20s who's been wearing glasses since 12 years old, sexxy red is the first celebrity whom i've seen express sexuality and desirability whilst wearing glasses, but where the glasses aren't a fetishising 'hot nerd/librarian' thing (obviously she's got other things going on)... she's given me confidence to go clubbing in my glasses, for that I love her 😭

Sexy Red reminds me of the viral people on social media who get invited to clubs for doing something that is unconventionally hilarious. They get invited to events & take photo ops with celebrities but in reality people do not find them attractive. The temporary hype makes them want to be associated with them. Once the market becomes saturated with the same “antics”, people eventually get bored and will move on to the next trend.

I thought Poundtown was satire when I first heard it lol I'm not a Sexyy Red fan, her music doesn't appeal to my tastes, but I do think it's funny how people are clutching their pearls over it. Her brand of vulgarity isnt anything new.

I don't know one man in my life who likes Megan the Stallion but I have heard some bumping Sexy Red. Despite many of them liking Megan’s rap skills. I'm not against Red entirely as I know of a few real-life Sexy Reds. However, this image is too rampant in the social gaze of black women especially of a darker complexion. In the words of my girl Chrissie, “We need more variety.” I will never apologize for holding this opinion despite the respectability police.
