"My son, ask Iron Maiden to write a song about you, for no other band could do a better job." You were right, dad.
  • @NorbiGaming
If Alexander Great could listen to this song, he would be proud.

One of the greatest masterpieces in music history! Top 3 Iron Maiden songs in my opinion alongside Hallowed Be Thy Name and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

This song is a work of art, it's so unique. The way he sings it, really getting the story across. The riffs, the energy. It's absolutely amazing.

First time i saw Iron Maiden live was in Thessaloniki, Greece (I am also born in a part of Greece called Macedonia), some 25 years ago. As we chanted "Alexander, Alexander" at the end of many songs, wanting to hear what we, Greek metalheads, consider our national heavy metal hymn, Blaze Bayley, the singer at the time, laughed and looked at Steve Harris. Although i was at the first row, i couldn't hear what they said, but it was something like Bayley telling Harris "haha what are they about, none of us is called Alexander and Harris responding dissapointed it's about that song we have...". I will never forget the look on both their faces... Alexander the Great is the song that i first heard from the genre and made me a metalhead and my son today is heading that way too. It holds a special place in our hearts as Greeks, because for many years our identity is under constant attack, disputing historical facts that are in the song's lyrics. Anyway, God bless you Iron Maiden, but i think, no i know that if you sing this song next time you come here in Greece, you better have good audio and video coverage of the event, cause you won't have seen anything like it before in your career...
