The chancellor has unveiled plans to scrap winter fuel payments for pensioners not on benefits as part of sweeping changes she said were needed to fill a £22bn spending shortfall that was 'covered up' by the Conservative government.

Justifying the planned cuts, Rachel Reeves told the Commons: 'Not to act is simply not an option.' Announcing 30 October as the date of the autumn budget, she added that it would 'involve taking difficult decisions to meet our fiscal rules across spending, welfare and tax', paving the way for probable tax increases

We give so much money to the people who dont even live or are citizens of this country, but the people born in the UK get forgotten!!!
  • How much does the House of Lords cost us, the taxpayers, each day?

No wonder Sunak rushed the election early 😂

Shouldnt we be cutting some of the billions in foreign aid before we got taxing people more, taxing pensions and cutting the winter fuel allowance? If we really are skint, take care of our own first!

Send millions of pounds abroad to pay for everybody else while are pensioners that made this country will freeze this winter.

If Hunt had done this the Press would have interviews with "vulnerable" Windrush pensioners...

The thing that really makes me chuckle is the reaction there would have been if the Tories had done this. It’s all ok because it’s our side doing it. Total hypocrisy and I suspect a lot more of it to come.

How many Billions are being spent on this Channel Fiasco? The UK needs change, this tired old formula never changes regardless of who is in power. Vote Reform UK
  • I wonder if parliamentary Labour, Tory , Greens, will you all take responsibility and take a pay reduction for 2 years. That should put us back in the credit.

You could save a huge chunk by actually controlling the flow of economic migrants who you spend millions on every day, maybe start there. Instead of adding or raising taxes on the British people use your brains for once.

And still we give millions away to other countries. Madness, sheer lunacy.

I alway thought Labour were for the working class and looking after the pensioners. How wrong could I be. They prefer to look after the illegal boat people who have contrbuted nothing.
