A glimpse of what preserving a year's supply of food looks like. This isn't a comprehensive video of everything I preserved this year because taking videos takes time and I have very little of it in the summer. But I was able to capture some fun moments! I hope you enjoy this video.

My daddy was born in 1910. He was 19 years old when the Great Depression hit. He lived on a farm where the whole family worked the land. He told me, "We never knew there was a 'Great Depression' ".

I know this probably doesnt mean much from a stranger on the internet, thousands of miles away, but I am proud of you and everything you have accomplished. Truly proud.

You’re teaching your kids such preciously valuable skills. Amazing, esp in these times.
  • @sanlen1944
You are giving your children a GIFT , all your non stop hard work will keep them healthy and give them knowledge for later in life , God Bless You .

This is exactly what I want in life. Store brought processed foods are slowly eating away our life. Good job momma! Such a beautiful family!

When I see kids have all the real care from their parent I call them they are "Lucky Kids". To be born from responsible parent is a Lottery that will take you all the way to the last. Very happy for your kids!

Seriously wish we had a country full of focused, dedicated, intelligent, giving, and morally responsible families like yours ! Kudos! I realize that obviously nothing is as good as it seems on social media like sites, I can't help be be incredibly impressed with you guys attitude and perseverance! Please spread your word and videos and help the US get back to what it is to be living right. Y'all are a bright light in a sea of darkness. Scott

I’ll be honest, i could see myself doing this with my future family... it’s so sensible, so natural, so just GOOD
  • You know, in rural România , we preserve fresh vegetables and fruits every autumn ...it feels kind of weird to think that in America this is not normal... every household plants vegetatables and in the autumn we preserve them. We eat from them every winter and last sometimes a up to a year. We grow even our own condiments (thyme, bay leaves...) and greens for teas and such.... you can't compare the taste to the supermarket food. I personally buy so little from the supermarket. We have hens so we don't eat eggs from the supermarket, some neighbours have cown so we buy milk from them... it's pretty cool actually 😁 anyway, lovely video, i really enjoyed it!

I live in a big city and have zero interest in growing or preserving my own food, but this is fascinating. Like damn, doing all this yourself? And the pride of having it all after you're done? So happy for you
  • The pandemic and the governments version of helping the people that elected them, has gotten me back to being self sufficient too. Started my own garden in Arizona. You guys are an inspiration and this is awesome
  • I cried watching, I know so well being up late in the night all alone trying to finish canning then cleaning so that by morning the kitchen would be clean to start breakfast. You are giving your family such a beautiful gift! You have a new subscriber here.
  • I`m an armature chilli sauce and pickle maker in Zimbabwe Africa. Love what you guys do. And the best part is not even the food but the bond that comes from a family that works together to create a sustainable life. Your kids are gonna be awesome with their own families trust me. Enjoy and if you ever publish a book on how to preserve please let me know. I would definitely buy it. Respect and health wishes from Zimbabwe. Do you guys sell off your products as well. I bet you would be very popular in the food markets.
  • Having a huge piece of land in the middle of nowhere, gardening and preserving my own food - this is my ultimate dream and a goal. And I have nobody to tackle it with, it makes me so sad. Other people see it as a "retirement project" and do not quite share my eagerness, especially with supply shortages coming our way. Anyway, I love watching your videos, they are very inspiring. Sorry for this bit of a buzz kill

I was born in Asia in 1985. I find it amazing that even though you are in the United States and I am in China, we have the same way of making tomato sauce. When I was a child, there was no tomato sauce in the supermarkets in northern China where I lived, so we usually made our own. The process we used was the same as the blogger's. It's incredible how human wisdom transcends borders and cultures.❤️Wishing you a happy life🌹
  • Canning and preserving has been passed down in my family from my great grandparents. My mom taught me, and I have been doing it as well to teach my children. I have felt a strong need to preserve more, and become even more self-sufficient as it’s become a greater realization how reliant we are on stores to get our food. Being able to grow my own food and preserve it is a huge goal of mine.
  • @brendameyer3055
We have been canning and preserving food on our small homestead since the 1980’s. I know how much work it is. We are still doing it and our three adult kids and their families are following in our footsteps. It’s a skill that is worth teaching our families. You have a sweet family. Keep up the good work. 😊
  • Im in a wheelchair and this season. I was gifted with boxes of apples, pears and onions. Videos like yours and others inspired me to try. Jams and pickling onions. What a journey. I had to use my electric chair at times. It was higher to level with oven. And then i would use manuel to cut up things. The jams turned out great. The onions I got a chopper it went so fast my eyes did not hurt. Thankyou for sharing. I empathize with your hard work. And understand about the growth in learning and preserving what you have with gratitude.
  • FULL CREDIT TO BOTH THE PARENTS FOR PROVIDING SUCH A LIFE.. HARD WORK IS THE KEY TO THE AMERICAN DREAM!! USA USA USA
  • @livergen
That was beautiful, I'm 68 and live alone ( but never lonely ) just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video and was so very proud seeing two good parents raising up the next generations... You all really cracked me up when you said ("😎 the dark side of homesteading😎") When you were down stretching your back, love your sense of humor. Anyway, God bless you all and may your home be filled with constant joy and happiness and life experiences that are deep and wide, your hard work and perseverance is a testament to your character and your honor to God.
