Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu, or Tokisen for short, does have a kind of "standard issue" idol feel to them, like you were saying, but that is something that actually makes them good, I feel. Their song "STAR" was actually used as one of the ending theme songs for the Shadowverse Flame anime series, so their music does also have a connection to anime.
