Just wanna say this movie is not subtitled accurately, especially in the song. Chamikla wasn't direct but cheaky with his words. Thats one of the reasons that people loved him

I loved the 80s -90s visual references like the design of the tents and the plastic rope chairs. I was born in 92 and these things are my core memories.

This is cinema at its best.... one of the best movie in decade. Imtiaz ali has put soul in this so unique yet tragic story of chamkila so much good .

It was really sudden shock and heartbreaking seeing both of them shot that brutally.. especially pareenti's one..that's the connection we audience felt through since starting for both of them and that continued to be hooked with a sense of empathy for them throughout the film..✨

To the people who are comparing today's Punjabi singers with Chamkila: *There's a reason he did 366 concerts in 365 days *There's a reason he is the best selling Punjabi artist of all time *There's a reason he has been quoted in countless Punjabi songs *There's a reason Karan Aujla, Babbu Mann, Sidhu Moosewala and many other Punjabi singers consider themselves his fan *And there's a reason people are still listening to him today Lets not forget he did all this without the internet, money, and going to Canada. He composed, wrote and performed all his songs by himself. Moreover, people paid money to listen to him, it was not like he used to upload his songs on YouTube which were available to Punjabis worldwide for free!!!

It's so funny netflix always did bad subtitles.. when they supposed to be direct with the subs they chose to generalize it but when the lyrics itself was indirect netflix chooses to go all out nd give direct meanings instead of translations!!
