I remember that deep dive comparison video between the RG350M, RG351P and the Retroid Pocket 2. I remember it did indeed help me to decide to pick one of them (I ended up leaning more torwards to the RG351P). At that time this channel had barely 15k subs. It's impressive how far you achieved! And the quality of the videos have not only kept the same standard as it has been getting better and better.

I have respect for this community, both for the reviewers and the developers. Thanks again for this video, much-needed content with these excellent and affordable devices.
  • I have a few of the premium Anbernic devices that have come highly recommended on your channel in the past. RG351V and RG351MP. And I’m leaning more towards the Retroid Pocket 3+ this time around. What a beautiful device! Love the throwback. 😍

I've never owned a device like these before, but after seeing lots of videos (here and other places) I've been very strongly considering getting an RP3+. It just seems like such a well put together handheld.

to fix the shoulder button issue with the Anbernic, all they have to do is shorten the length of the L1 and R1 so they're more like cube corners, and then move the L2 and R2 further out, just like the Nintendo 3DS.
  • Thanks Russ. I've ordered the RG505 (w no card) and putting that APK up is super awesome of you bro . Oh and I added your name in the "how did you hear about it" and added a tip

Regarding benchmarks: I don’t find it surprising that the 505 scored slightly higher and used less battery because it’s operating at a lower resolution.

Got my rg353m earlier this week, your review was excellent. Thank you!!
  • @salitz91
This makes the wait for my RP3+ this week even harder! My wife already said she was going to intercept and hold it until I finish my 2 final grad school papers.... I'm thankful for this comparison video, confirms I made the right choice. Thanks Russ!

Thank you for your work Russ, as always! I go with the RP3+, can't wait to get it in my hands. And nice to see that competition between the brands push the market for us customers. 🙂

Did some math based upon the specs you provided. For snes, calculated diagonal is 3.31” on the RG505, and 3.40” on the RP3+. For GBA games though, the RG505 should have a diagonal of 3.88” and only a 3.54” diagonal on the RP3+. For most arcade games where the resolution is 384x224, the RG gets a diagonal of 3.99”, and the RP gets 4.10”.

It’s a very positive thing for the industry and for us as consumers when we end up with devices that are so similar. The competition will keep prices reasonable and keep pushing performance and quality forward. Who knows, maybe a third player will come from left field and make this even more interesting! 😊

These videos are a treasure, I was sitting here considering an RG505 since they're easier to get than an RP3+, but this reminded me of why I didn't want the 505 when it came out and changed my mind right back to the RP3+.

The color comparison was night and day to me on my monitor. Not sure if it was less pronounced in person, but on the video the color looks much much better on the OLED panel.
  • Thanks for going the extra mile to share those dolphin versions with the community. I will be doing some testing with them on the Odin pro. 🐬

I put in an order for a retroid 3+ about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was a bit concerned that I should have ordred a Anbernic RG505 but after seeing this I'm glad with my choice. Now just waiting for them to actuall ship the darn thing.
  • Selling my Retroid Pock 3 in India (Bangalore). 3GB/32 GB Version. Listed in Olx. New condition.

Loving the intro facing the camera, I know that opening your image publicly is sometimes hard, but this really helps feeling your channel (even more) human and personal.
  • @TorgawaS
Barring the shoulder buttons which I dislike I have to say overall I do prefer the RG505 after playing/testing both for a few days now. The RP3+ has better ergonomics/design & an higher screen resolution but other then that I have to say I prefer the RG505, didn't think I would. Both are good it all depends on your needs/preference 🙂
  • @durgasdelight
Any RG505 fans here? Idk, I can't do m&m mini buttons like the rp3+ has here, like the Vita (though I do still love overall form and function of the Vita). I don't mind the shoulder layout on the 505, I won't be using L2/R2 very often for my purposes. I have other machines that I can connect to the TV. Basically just really attached to my early memories of using a SNES controller, and Anbernic devices always get it on the nose 👃 Anyways great comparison, Russ, always appreciated!
