Ah yes, that Dark Soul's boss Beyond Journey's end, Frieren the Slayer.
-
When the Boss is at 5% health but he has one last surprise attack that kills you instantly
-
That shot of clone Frieren's death stare really sends chills down your spine.
-
When you think about it, this final move is the culmination of everything Frieren was ever taught: It's an attack that hits without windup or warning, is completely undetectable and incomprehensible even as you are being hit with it, and hits with absolute and overwhelming force. Hit hard, hit fast, hit by surprise, and hit so hard that no one survives to tell the tale. It is the perfect weapon for taking down powerful demons.
-
Not even being able to understand the attack as a magic spell is sort of the extreme of differences in power. Like, if you can’t even recognize the attack as magic, there’s simply no way to visualize any counter or even defense against it.
-
Frieren mentioned it's been 80 years since she used this final attack, mostly likely it was during the demon king fight.
-
Fern with her AK-47 being sniped by Frieren's AWP without even noticing.
-
Frieren's words were "I would lock my gaze on the biggest threat in the room." For the entire fight the clone never broke its focus on Frieren, but for just a moment the clone fully recognized that Fern was the biggest threat and was ready to delete her first.
-
Frieren was not kidding when she said last episode that she knows really well how scary she can be,that look has “ok,now you die” written all over it
-
What I find most impressive about this is that Frieren's clone does exactly what Frieren would do in that situation after losing BOTH of her arms. No panic, no hesitation, just the next attack...amazing to think anyone could have this kinda of resolve.
-
0:25 Fern's Kakyoin moment. "This is my final Zoltraak"
-
The thing I love most about this fight is seeing how alert the clone is to everything around it. From surprise attacks, to frieren’s small suspicious movements, It’s always shown to be aware. Not only does this give you a sense of intimidation and inferiority, it shows that Frierens skills, experience, and intelligence are truly being respected, even as a clone. The fight truly feels like fighting a Main Character.

It's actually crazy that fern couldn't detect the attack. She was the same person who could see fluctuations in serie mana
-
(0:22) Clone Frieren's death stare looks so cool
-
0:22 “You’re not that guy, pal.”
-
0:22 She's Just standing There... Menacingly!
-
I don't which thought I find more amusing: the fact that death stare the clones gives turned viewers on or the fact that Frieren herself could technically give someone that look if she wanted.
-
Frieren’s 1000 yard stare
-
I love how we are SHOWN, not told, how strong that move is. Look at Fern try to move her hand! The staff insta-shattered. If you've seen a weapon break in an anime, you know that person's lost.

0:22 It reminds me of the netero speaking to the meruem. "Do you think I can't pray without my hands?"
