SCP 1510 is a standard bronze Roman infantry helmet dating to the Marian Reforms of the year 107 BCE. The helmet bears no marks to distinguish it from other, similar helmets, and shows appropriate signs of aging. The helmet shows no anomalous properties unless worn by a man of the ages 28-35.
When worn by a man of the appropriate age, SCP1510 -1 will manifest, overriding the wearer's personality entirely until it is removed, whereupon it will return to normal. The wearer will have no recollection of the time the entity had control over his body.
When addressed, SCP-1510-1 will identify himself, in classical Latin of the Central Italian dialect, as Publius Carthephilus Aetius, a Roman soldier formerly under the command of the Consul Gaius Marius, who fought in the Jugurthine War and died under unclear circumstances the night following the triumphus of that war.

  • This one was fascinating, especially because the author chose a conflict most audiences aren't familiar with. Everybody knows Caesar, not as many people know Marius, let alone Jugurtha.
  • @MikJ132
I'd really love to see more stories with this SCP. A Roman Centurion being recruited by the Foundation has virtually limitless potential. I also love how human Publius felt. I genuinely felt bad for the guy.
  • @CLFRevamped
As an Italian the attention to detail in the police cars and uniforms is amazing! Excellent job
  • "Not entirely sure who the Romans can take that up with, God maybe?" "But the Romans have tried their hand at killing his offspring." Oh my.
  • There are so many hat-based SCP's. This is one of my favorites. Like SCP-963, the helmet can give a man a completely different life like that of the original deceased owner.
  • @darkninja1732
I hope that officer got a job at the foundation, a researcher role sounds like his dream job.
  • I gotta say, the centurion's description of dead-but-also-not sounded a lot like the SCP "What Happens After", except for the part where sensation started fading the more he decayed.
  • @lens_hunter
This is why I love SCPs so much. Anything can be an SCP. If you like history, fantasy, dragons, anything, you can write an SCP story about it. I love it so much.
  • This is one of those SCPs worthy of our sympathy. It is very much a first hand account of what had been. It never asked for this fate, but it is the hand it was dealt. He sounds like a good guy, just not the most welcome of situations. Nevermind the fact he went through culture shock and had to grimace about the world he grew up in , is gone. That has gotta hurt. But, he is good at heart and can only do what he can to help the Foundation as an ally. So much to learn from this guy, without question
  • “Not sure who he can take that up with, God maybe?” Your commentary is hilarious Bob
  • It would've been prudent to recruit the police officer. He'd established a rapport with Publius and his calling was the ancient world. It would've taken less interviews to get Publius' cooperation. And Publius would've had a friend to help in his transition. Sadly, the Foundation frowns on such things.

“Officers with colourful berets” Bob’s animation team: “Yes, so colourful. We’ll add a hint of black to the black, maybe even a little extra black on the black parts to make the black pop. The height of colour.” (Said with love, the art and narration is fantastic as ever <3)
  • As an italian the attenzione given to the small details from the uniform to the local italian idioms make this video amazing. Good work doc
  • @Onyx1987
This video is a GREAT example of how far the art and animation has come. You're a legend, Dr.!
  • @ignatius7701
I loved the Arcane references, most notably the officer being Viktor and the person inspecting Publius’ body being Singed. Great video as always!
  • you should have mentioned it's interaction with SCP 361-"Courage, Publius. This too shall pass. When rust claims your soul at last, valor will make you into Aeneas, and carry you beyond these shores, to rest among your fathers." The voice was later identified by SCP-1510-1 as the voice of the persona's father.
  • Two things: 1st: they should hire the police man since he's such a good historian he knows pretty good latin and has knowledge of the ancient times. 2nd: He could potentially be used for the Foundation for field support. I mean, have a physically strong host or heck maybe even a cyborg. Have him learn English and have him train with people like The Black Knight. Now imagine a centurion, fighting for the Foundation with his only weakness being the helmet that keeps him alive.
  • This was a good one; sure, consciousness bearing clothing is quite common, but Publius's story is tragic in a distinctly Roman way, feeling like a spirit not at rest, yet seems a friendly chap that could teach us so much about the Late Republic Era. Also, well done on the Latin pronunciation, Doctor! It sounded pretty good to me!
