I can understand and respect your opinion as someone who hasnt seen any One Piece, but the transformation is meant to be goofy, in fact Oda took a lot of inspiration for Gear 5 from Looney Tunes. It's also a huge plot point so the people who have watched or read it all the way through were extremely hyped, and probably enjoyed it. (This is just the first episode of a longer fight, next couple episodes are gonna slap)

Luffy has always been a funny goofy and imaginative person. Gear 5 is basically a transformation where luffy can utilize his personality and imagination and turn it into combat. Literally, what ever he imagines he can do. Stated in chapter 1044 "imagination is his only limit putting smiles on faces" What do Looney Toon characters do? They do things only we can imagine and make us laugh and smile. Oda created Luffy as the son he always wanted. Goofy, joyful, loving and caring. We have had many sad moments in the show so having a transformation that can bring back some joy is nice to have and very different from any other anime. Nice reaction tho!

I never understood why people keep comparing Luffy to Goku? Luffy is the mc of an anime that is designed to have a lot smaller frame. we do not have planet and universe destroying powers here, while in Dragon ball every second character can blow up planets with ease. It's just not even a fair comparison. It's like saying, dude, when I was 5 years old, I could ride a bike, and look at this snail, all it can do is crawl around super slow.

Pls don’t compare anime’s to each other. One piece is one thing and DBZ is another. Just watch it so u can understand. The story line is great because it’s mostly about adventure. If you don’t want to, cuz you don’t like it, then just don’t watch it, maybe it’s not for you.
