An animated (very) short film by Seth McKeever. A wildlife documentary shot somewhere not quite Earth. Created in the manner of digital hand-drawn cel animation, or traditional digital 2D techniques, with the free animation software Krita. Commissioned by GIPHY in New York City. (2022 - 2024)

I hope that this experimental short film gives you some motivation for your own projects and character animation! It is not easy being a small freelance animator but it is worth it!

We are just about to clear 10k views!!! This is astounding, and so exciting. I really was not expecting this huge positive reaction. I am so thankful for all of your encouraging comments and for you subscribing. It really does mean so much! So, as you may well know, animation like this takes a long time. Rest assured I have many more projects well underway, but they will take many months to be finished. Would you like to see in progress work on YouTube? (Animatics, rough animation, etc.) I am always fascinated to see this, but I am wondering what your appetite is. Also, if you want to get monthly updates on my work, I would love to send you my animation newsletter! You can sign up here: sethmckeever.substack.com/ In the meantime, here are some other creatures to tide you over! Here is an experiment with actual analog/physical cels: https://youtu.be/DtGkPnBGwPg?si=dJArMDusluOCr92a Here is another creature “walk” cycle: https://youtu.be/iplXNfkRtGM?si=Zc1oysoMZq4bL0E8 And here are some claymation creatures: https://youtu.be/5eOuvEQMnF8?si=nDv7hlm_d9oij4Uj Again, thank you all so much for this avalanche of support. Lots more bigger, more detailed, more surreal, more narrative things coming soonish!

  • @RealExtraCheese
The fluffer at the end broke the fourth wall by noticing the camera and this brought all of the creatures to life ♥
  • I love how these little scenes could be playing on any world accross the universe at this very moment extreamely far from earth
  • @Orange_pie
Yo, I love the design of the flat worms bonking each other. 10/10
  • I dont see enough praise for the sound design. It was great, especially the worms smacking their faces together

I think the team behind Scavenger’s Reign would love to have you on board!
  • I can’t quite describe this type of creature design but I wish it was in every sci-fi/fantasy story ever.
  • @GurrenPrime
That first one’s particularly creepy, due to both the size and the way it “looks” at the camera at the end. Love all of them though.
