Master and Commander is an astonishing film in so many ways! Russell absolutely kills it and the cinematography and sound is 10/10

Not to knock any of your other splendid movies, but "Master and Commander" remains my favorite.

Wasn't expecting Russel Crowe to talk about Ren, that blew my mind a little. Ren is amazing, I've been obsessed with him ever since Hi Ren came out.
  • I'm still pushing for a Netflix Nice Guys sequel TV show or movie with Gosling & Crowe. Heck a spinoff about Gosling's character's daughter in the 80's with Crowe/Gosling guesting could be great too IMO

Master and Commander will always be my favorite Russel Crowe film, the attention to detail, story, and characters was top-notch.

Nice to see him mention Ren. Great musician and has a story to tell, so i can see why Russell likes him

Russell in Gladiator was one of the greatest performances ever. One of the best movies ever.

I simply love when Russell Crowe does interviews where he talks about his storied career, he's such a storyteller that you can listen endlessly and never get tired of them. The one where he broke down his iconic characters (also by GQ) was one of my all-time faves.

"Master and Commander" will always be my favorite movie of his. One of those movies if I see it on, I'll stop and just watch it...for the 100th time.
  • @iamdamo
He's into Ren? That was unexpected and awesome all at the same time.
  • @valentins7120
"a good year" is another severely underrated classic of his
  • @ciaolife
Such a charismatic man. Could listen to him talk all day

Like many here I think Master and Commander was a brilliant movie with fantastic performances all around. He managed to convey an adored, respected, occasionally feared leader without overdoing any of those aspects. He wasn't sappy, he wasn't ridiculously brave, he wasn't a dictator. A wonderfully subtle performance.
