Beautiful video! Yes, I am a much better teacher as a result of my online experiences. I would add that my students are more independent and more motivated in my online studio. My students continue to thrive in exams and festivals, and also have fun at the piano. Your students are lucky to have you, Amie!
  • Do you teach piano online? I would love to hear what you love about it! Have some challenges? What obstacles do you find in your online teaching studio?

I love your reflections!. I am an older adult piano student. And I have not always found online lessons effectual for me... I especially appreciate your comments about the fact that you became a better listener. And you or less apt to interrupt and allowed the student time to correct his or her own mistakes.. That is an interesting observation and I can definitely say as a student that if I am interrupted repeatedly by my teacher.I completely lose my train of thought and botch everything!!. I really enjoy your videos thank you
  • When I started teaching online lessons in 2020, Zoom was the option primarily I used but found sound issues were the biggest hindrance. I could hear the student but the piano sound was garbled or disrupted. However, the points you mentioned are quite consistent with my changes made too while teaching this way. I had to observe and notice more. Seeing some of the set ups for practicing was an eye opener too. I only teach a few students online now. but have found some creative ways to improve sound to have better lessons and still think it is a viable option. I have had success with the students who continue to have their weekly lessons this way. Great points, Amie and I can identify with all of them.
