Such an amazing film with extremely strong performances across the board. Hope it gets the recognition it deserves. Thank you for sharing your story, J.D.

I’m currently in the United States Marine Corps and also have lived in Ohio my entire life. I am currently studying prelaw with hopes of attending law school someday upon getting out of the corps. I have never seen a film I’ve related more to in my entire life. This film was spot on and extremely relatable to the point where I cried from it.

I loved this movie. It's all about the "glue" that holds us all together--love, dedication to family [always] that transcends all socio-economic levels. When Mammaw said, "I'm all you got!"; it really turned the light on!!

I was moved to tears at the powerful role memaw played when her daughter dropped the ball. It was extremely relatable if you come from bad choices but a strong familial bond. I would recommend watching this movie. It's a must see for those who need to learn compassion for others esp their own wayward family members. Some give up too soon on their own children & write off their grandchildren instead of fighting for their less-than-perfect offsprings. 5 out of 5 🌟

Read the book, and was surprised to see it was already a movie. Glen Close should be nominated for an Academy Award.

Great movie !!! Great director! The critics are against the story because of their leftist politics!

Wish they would mention the Adverse Childhood Experiences study (ACE study). This movie is full of them.
  • As a Tennesseean, this movie was both heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time! It was an outstanding movie, and was as real as can be! It was done in a way that was true to life, and was not disparaging about a family facing drug abuse and poverty. I loved this, and I hope that they win some awards for this, because they deserve it!

Its a good film. Everyone should go check it out. Haven't heard one single person say that they didn't LOVE this movie

It was really good, I wish they could realize we have more in common than not.

Does EVERYTHING have to be political? Strong family is political? Family support is political? I have a MIND OF MY OWN. This movie was OUTSTANDING! Do NOT, NOT, NOT listen to these biased puppet critics. This movie was REAL, HONEST & TRUE TO MANY LIVES. The Oscars are a joke. You'll NEVER see a moderate win ever again! GO SEE THIS MOVIE. IT'S A 10!

Read the book! Even a good movie can't express all the nuances of J.D.'s life and family and there are plenty.
