In this video we max out our Woodland Mills HM126 Sawmill with a huge 24 inch oak log! The sawmill and trailer that we built handled the massive log with ease! We got over 30 nice pieces of lumber from one log! We will use this limber to build our woodworking shop next summer. Happy sawing and let us know if you have any questions! Thanks for watching another Collins Country video where we work to become homesteaders more and more everyday.

I'm buying a sawmill in a couple weeks and plan on turning the bigger logs with a skidloader and grapple bucket attachment

Man, that's some pretty wood! That mill is certainly an asset for y'all! Awesome job on this video.

to turn the big logs, first put a piece of pipe over the log stops that basically extends the log stop so the log doesn't catch on the stop. Second, wrap a rope around the log several times (three times around works for me). Attach the end of the rope to the fork on your tractor and lift. Log rolls right over. I have a really small tractor and have only had a couple of logs that were too big to roll.
  • That's so awesome! We have a sawmill coming our way soon. Can't wait to cut some wood. Have a good one!

  • I’ve been watching sawmill videos for quite some time now because I’m very interested in buying a sawmill. After I seen this video, I can honestly say that for sure I’m gonna buy the HM 126 mill. I have tons of oak, Szeider, Maple, and Ash and I can’t wait to start milling lumber like what you just displayed. Thank you for posting the video Too cool you have such a nice tractor too. I gotta get one.

I have six red oak logs that size and larger being milled right now by a person from a tre that came down on a friend's property and gave it to me - can’t wait to get it drying and build with it in a few years
  • Saved $325,000 before lunch 😂. That log was a BEAST, but you all and the mill handled it very well. Super impressed with that mill

I put a lifting strap around the log and pass the strap back through itself so that it’s cinches at the bottom. Then I lift the strap with the forks and it rolls. Hard to describe, but that is one of several options for turning the logs if they’re too heavy for a cant hook
  • my os27 frontier has a winch assembly that I bought extra to roll logs like the one you had .

To roll big logs put a chain Round it since it up with hook on bottom and lift with tractor will roll it just fine
