I grew up watching The Next Generation with my Dad. He recently passed and I ordered this subscription, to put together the ship in his memory. It's something he would have bought and done with me of it were available back then. The idea of every month taking a day to relax and build this ship bit by bit , with a 6pack, and thinking of my Dad. That's priceless.

I agree with you 100% ... I did the math too .... way too expensive and I don't think I would have the patience for 2.5yrs either
  • @tonysteeleebw01
Currently building the Polar Lights 1/350 scale with lights for a third of that price and not as heavy and I don't have to wait for 2.5 years for a complete model .

UPDATE! With Eaglemoss essentially dead it looks like many builders are going to be stuck with an incomplete model. That absolutely sucks. Personally I gutted it out for almost a year before quitting on the build due to the appalling quality of the model. Total garbage and not worth the time or money investment. Especially painful when I could've ordered 281 Big Macs instead.

If you want to pay out all that money. But want to see quality and how long this take to bulid. There is a youtuber called the World of wayne. Who building this, he's also star trek fan, so he make to whole things fun to watch

These type of monthly kits-for-one-item has never been my thing. I have no patience for it. I’ve never been interested this kit for me. I’ve much preferred their models though 100+ and probably counting.
  • Just got my first sets, and I was totally surprised to find out the body of the ship is made of metal. It's gunna be quite hefty when its complete.
  • I would buy it at $400 in 1 package... but not $1500 over 2 years
  • Hey TrekLad, speaking of currency prices,I take it your in the UK,but for me I am in the US,and compared to your 9.99 pound, here the price has been increased to $12.95 per kit,so that comes out to $1554 without shipping, but with it at $4.95 for 4 kits per month it comes out to $594 for a whopping $2148. Now admittedly that is a chunk of change, but considering its broken down to 4 kits per month for a total of $56.75 I think that is pretty reasonable. Now I am a little upset that it doesn't have a soundboard or an extra rod to hold the saucer section when separated, but the actual 2 sections being able to separate is just awesome. So for good points and bad,the good ones beat out the bad and overall when complete this thing should be a crown jewel in anyones collection, especially mine. Also I kinda wish this had fewer kits or stages like 100 or even 80 to keep it around 2 years to complete instead of 30 months but its not a dealbreaker,I plan on completing this hopefully and display it in my mancave.Plus this is just HUGE and worth it.
  • @ajkleipass
$1842 USD or $1962 USD if you opt for the display base for a mere $1 extra per kit. (Yes, I think we both ignored the bait price for the first two kits, but still...)
  • @OldManTheseDays
I was really tempted by this one. Ultimately price, number of kits, and time required took it off the table for me.

another concern might be: what happens if something happens to Eaglemoss, their distribution, etc?...you'll be stuck with a model you're heavily invested in (depending how far you get if anything like this happens) with no ability to complete it...i have a huge love for the ships of Star Trek, and it is pretty cool, but I find the overall cost way too high (so many other things i could use this money for)...

This one really has me torn. I had to stop and sell off the Eaglemoss Ecto-1 because it just became too much for me to handle. I love Star Trek, and I love the Enterprise-D, but I think I will have to save my sanity and just be thankful that I have both versions of her from Diamond Select.
  • @TheRealBigDan
I get the cost aspect I really do. For me I love building models, always have. Problem is I'm not very good at painting them. This partwork (of my fave starship of all time) is a great way for me to chill of a evening. Pour a drink, grab a snack, put on a podcast or youtube vid in the background and get building. I love it. Quite a way through the Ecto build too now and it's looking stunning. Yeah they are pricey but factor the enjoyment I get out building it ,I just ( only just mind ) validate it to myself.
  • I love that the ad for the Enterprise D Build-Up model shows the port nacelle misaligned. So there is truth in advertising after all...
  • @lunaticloon5638
You're correct in this video! I think about the same things (expense and time) as I wait for my next shipments of the "Enterprise, Terminator, R2D2, and Bismarck" kits! You're absolutely correct (What else could I be buying instead?). Thanks! Eric

No. Their products are plagued with faults - I've never had a single Eaglemoss product without wonky parts, or poor paint finishes. Their quality control is appalling. And to add insult to injury, their customer service is even worse. As for this product...overpriced for something that will undoubtedly end up being a shoddy product.
  • @johnbrown7689
My phone contract just ended and Ive no plans renewing so I just using same funds to pay for enterprise build :) got my first parts few days ago :)
  • @Sevarrius
I subscribed to and completed the deagostinni Millenium falcon. Cost pretty much the same and took just as long as this and I don't regret it at all. I love my 32" screen accurate millenium Falcon. I don't drink or go out at the weekends, don't have any expensive hobbies either so I can personally justify the expense and I know for a fact I'm going to love her when she's finished. At least this time I won't have to paint, weather and detail the thing after I'm finished building it!!
