After watching the video I now have a theory If we only take the live action movies and the books into account, and the movies were what was actually happening, then the family grew up and is not an infinite time loop. Greg is simply writing the books and pretending he is still in middle school, probably for clout or smth idk I haven’t read these books in years

I always just thought Greg was a middle schooler, they’re self-centered, that’s just part of their developmental stage. Middle schoolers are horrible, my middle school years were awful, I’m an adult and I’m still scared of them. Plus, he’s growing up in a dysfunctional family that basically ignores him because he’s the middle child and Maddie gets away with everything no matter how horrible he is. Rodrick and Greg probably take their anger of their parents and Manny out on each other because they can and their parents only care if they hurt Manny. It’s also an extreme, comical version of the birth order of siblings; the oldest tries to distance themselves, the middle child is ignored and the youngest gets away with everything.
