A machine takes over my parental duties. Max's big weapon is his consistency. He doesn't have a deadly forehand or backhand but he gets the ball back with dogged determination. This seems to piss his opponents off and they subsequently make mistakes while trying to go for too much...or at least this is what happened during the first competitive tournament in which Max played.
