So Warren Buffett just filed 3 new Form 4’s with the SEC, for 9 straight trading days, he’s been acquiring millions of shares in one particular stock. A total of a little over $400 Million, invested into a company he already owns a large piece of, Occidental Petroleum. This is a big deal for Buffett, he almost never makes significant changes his top investments

In this video to share with you Buffett’s rationale for betting big on oil, and his specific reasoning for why he’s loading up on Occidental Petroleum in 2024, plus, later in the video I’ll show you how you can filter the global equities markets to quickly find businesses that fall under Buffett’s investing principles.

  • My portfolio for the past 30 years has always been self managed and I own 3 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Class A stock (BRK:A) which I bought in at about $17,000 during the mid 90s, I’m currently liquidating some of these positions to incoporate new Gen. Stocks, but am I better off re-investing into Gold as it seems stocks are a little too unstable right now.

If I had $360k I would invest $100k in tech & $260k into dividend stock with a proven track record to grow with capital appreciation & dividend increase year over year
  • @tmer831
Is NVIDIA a safe buy to outperform the market this year? I'm tired of these new buys every week, just to make up some assets with low percentage on my $136k portfolio and try to keep everything around 10%.

Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use of it than they can. It’s not much different from bond investing. The way I see it if you have a million at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k-70k in dividend income.

Would have been nice to be told at the start that this video was going to pretty much be a 15 minute ad.

I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.
  • @donovantobs
I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore. ..

I recently sold some of my stocks positions, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term, I want to diversify my $400K portfolio to new gen stocks with masive potential, but I'm uncertain about risks.
  • @MuchParrill
Your explanations are clear and straight forward It's always a honor to have you here as a mentor, I appreciate you for the time being spent to educate us financially. Regardless of how bad it gets the economy, I still makeover $28K every single week. I truly value Laura, and her helpful guides

My biggest irk with ETFs is the lack of optimization;changes in any given stock in the ETF can drag your portfolio down. While dividends can provide immediate income, the true power lies in the compounding effect over many years. But in general, I think the stock market isn't showing any sign of slowdown and I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...
  • @Sampson-jh7yq
I agree that many people are considering NVIDIA as the "Stock of the year." However, I'm curious about which stocks could potentially become the next META in terms of growth over the next decade. I've allocated $200k for investment, looking for companies to make additions to boost performance
  • @anna-brazz
Over the years, I've teetered in the brink of financial ruin due to an awful divorce and considering retirement in 4 years, I now look to the stock market to fuel my comeback. How can one really amass wealth gains like Buffet without having to hold stocks for too long?
  • @RoseBalerus
I have been told not to be fooled, stocks and etfs are not the economy, I had 180k put aside waiting for the feds to stop raising rates, now I’m ready to get back in the market, but it looks like the pause is forever and Faang will still rise/fall, I’m confused, what could be the way moving forward
  • @GabbyMJ-md2rs
This seems like the worst period. Even the market are now very unpredictable. Started investing recently when the market prices were a bit high, today I am more than 60% down
  • @alexvanzijl6796
Hamish, please look further into the negative oil prices of April 2020. These were all financial buyers/traders that were caught with their pants down. As you know, the financial market for oil is at times 30 to 50x larger than the physical market for oil. This was a case of the tail wagging the dog...
  • @bhg00
Home oil is big business during war
  • @jamiemiller6156
I finally started a position in this. If you look at the debt reduction, share buybacks, potential for oil prices and opportunities in untappable reserves and carbon capture, there seems to be a of lot of ways to win here.

The sneakiest entire video is an advertisement Ive ever seen. I thought I was watching a Buffet video but after the 4th time leaning to Stockopedia I was like Oooooh ok. I see what ya did there.
  • @BoEmery
Btw, any suggestion on a cheap up & coming AI alternative to NVDA that may be their competition?
