Im not Japanese, but their culture is just.. something
  • 4am hits different on your way to work before 8am. Especially during the cold, foggy, winter atmosphere

You know it's gonna be great when it starts with Taeko Onuki - 4 A.M.

Anytime I listen to City Pop, I just start to think about Sailor Moon and some other nostalgic animes for me. Seriously, anytime I listen to City Pop I just get so much happier and it makes such a difference.

    これは私が古い音楽が大好きだと言うときの意味です!!
  • I'm japanese and my dad spent youth time in 80's and he said 80's was the greatest era in Japan

The beat from The Weeknd's out of time is actually sampled from midnight pretenders. I just realized as i was listening to it 5:33, great playlist! Have a nice day everyone, God Bless.

I think the reason this music reminds us of anime is because they were both technically beginning to flourish around the same era. Most 80's/90's anime was probably even inspired by some of these songs, who knows. I mean, even the anime intros were like this back then. The whole thing is such a vibe.
  • 我らの古きよき歌。新しいものばかりを追い続けるのではなく、昔の日本の文化も好きでいてくれる人が沢山いて私は嬉しいです。

FINALLY MORE PEOPLE ARE ENJOYING CITYPOP <3 Edit: You all don't have to tell me that I'm "late" simply for expressing how happy I am that the genre is gaining more mainstream attention. I've actually loved Citypop for years now and it's 90% of what I listen to on the regular. I just think that it's awesome that more people are discovering such a gem of entertainment. Also, as a person who has grown up black, I am fully aware that specific albums/tracks take inspiration from our sound and other stylings of western culture. To sum it up, I find it really exciting that an interest I have is gaining more attention from like-minded people who appreciate it as much as I do! It's all good fun! :)
