I had this exact experience with a crazy French lady. Her entire run through was about her little dog and how important it was that I liked him, and would I let him sit on my lap so she would know we were friends? Meanwhile, he was literally biting my shoes (he was scared of shoes , he explained). It was so bad that I said I had to leave if he was going to be out. She finally agreed that she would put him in HIS bedroom but only if I promised to let him out if there was a fire. Meanwhile, her little kid just played quietly on his room until they returned. He seemed confused when I asked if I could join in, poor dear.
