Spoilers The reason Sunny has an altercation with Mari is because in a bout of anger and frustration, he threw the violin that everyone worked so hard to buy him down the stairs on the day of their recital. Make no mistake: he wanted to play violin with Mari. The memories outright say that they caught him practicing with his mini violin that he used when he was younger. So everyone took some part time work to pitch in and buy him the violin. To Sunny, that violin literally represented everyone's faith in him. But you have to remember that he was 12, and that scene shows that he was already struggling to deal with expectation and letting people down from a young age. Mari was a perfectionist: she practiced piano intensely, writing notes all over her sheet music in a sloppy disorganized manner, contrasted to her normally put together attitude. To Mari, music was her major passion. To Sunny, music was a way to connect with his cool older sister who he loved more than anything else. The sister that rescued him from drowning and broke down in tears of relief when she saw he was okay. Mari, alongside all of his friends, meant the absolute world to Sunny. To play poorly meant to betray their friendship. So he committed his first act of escapism - he shattered the violin to escape the pressure he placed on himself. Mari, being the perfectionist but also just the older sibling, got upset. Not just because it was a gift from all of them, not just because she was a perfectionist, but because she was extremely eager and excited to play with her younger brother. She also loved him immensely, and to see him practice so hard to keep up probably filled her with an intense amount of pride for him. But the argument spiraled out of control, and a little push that would have been fine had it taken place in a safer spot became deadly. Mari's bad knee meant that she most likely did not have the strength or balance to keep herself upright even against her 12 year old brother, and the fight happened right at the foot of the stairway. Notice that the first Something you fight attacks Sunny by shoving him, on the stairs, and the first skill Sunny learns is "Calm down." If he had just calmed down instead of getting angrier, things would have been fine. The violin could have been replaced. His feelings of low self esteem and fear of failure could have been improved.

I would just like to let everyone know that there is a sprint button in the game. DON’T discover this the last 30 minutes of the game like... someone did.

Fun Fact: Following the True ending, if BASIL's flowers are consistently watered throughout the DREAM WORLD segments of the game, an additional cutscene will play after the credits, depicting BASIL waking up to SUNNY, as SUNNY warmly smiles at him. BASIL smiles back, and both of their SOMETHINGs disappear.

Kinda' sad how people are calling Omori "The New Undertale". This is NOTHING like Undertale.
  • This video made me realize that the Emotion Chart foreshadows how each playable character’s real-life counterpart copes with the loss of Mari.

“That memory is alive once more, and now, it doesn’t have to be scary.” what a closing line man
  • @Dr-re4jm
No one cares about this but the word cookie comes from the duch word koekie meaning small or little cake
  • @Jimmy-cv2js
They shouldn’t be called cookies to begin with. You bake them! They should be called bakies.

This game explains how triggers work better than anyone else could. It isn’t just scary things, it’s the memories associated with them. A piano isn’t scary, but because it’s associated with Sunny’s trauma, it’s a trigger to him. People need to understand this.

27:57 Favourite part. Overcoming trauma isn't as simple as breathing slowly. It takes time.
  • Games that deal with depression always feel a bit fake but OMORI struck just right especially with coping and realizing it isn't as easy as "just don't be sad". OMORI has helped me give me just another push to keep on going knowing someone or something understands what depression really does to someone and It feels great.

That was a great video as always~ This game hit my right in the heart and I'm glad more people are getting to know about it!
  • @ultrio325
holy that "when the moon hits your eye" line was way too fucking clever I can't

I feel like whenever people ask, "Are video games art?", this is one of the games that people will point to and say, "Not only are they an art, they're an entire medium of storytelling unto themselves." Truly, this is a game that deserves so much more attention, not only for the game itself, but the message it has. EDIT: Thanks for the likes everyone!
  • “Oh great, another indie game about depression” In all seriousness, this game looks amazing. I don’t have depression or anxiety (at least it’s not diagnosed) but I have several family members with these problems, so I understand these problems a lot. This game looks amazing, and I’ll probably pick it up eventually

OMORI ended up breaking me, because it tapped into one of my greatest fears - My fear of becoming angry. I'm generally a rather calm and collected person, and it takes a lot to make me angry. But when I'm angry, I feel myself lose control of who I believe to be me and someone else entirely takes my place, and that terrifies me. I don't know what I'll do when I lose control, and I always fear that I may end up doing something like what Sunny did. I end up just bottling that anger I feel out of fear of letting it out, and it all has to come out at some point, and I'm beyond terrified of reaching that point. Maybe it's time I look for help about this fear of mine.

The way Kel turns to Sunny and says "why does this keep happening to us?" after Basil does what he does, that was the moment that broke me.
