Great video, my friend. The thumbnail for this video must have been a photo from when your lathe was brand new. Based on that photo, before clicking on the video, my first thought was "Wow, this guy's lathe is cleaner than my kitchen. If I had someone like you in my neighborhood, I'd volunteer to be your apprentice for free, just to learn and have access to such tools. I'm starting to get into woodworking, but to be honest, even though I have almost no experience with it, I love seeing the metalwork so much more. I love to exact precision one can achieve, and I love the idea of possibly putting together a project in a few hours, or even minutes, and as soon as the last weld is ground down, it's done. There's something so satisfying about welding two pieces of metal together and suddenly having something very useful, as apposed to building a bedside table out of wood and spending days or even weeks gluing, screwing, bolting, sanding, sanding more, and then there's the final sanding to consider, right before staining, painting and finishing, which never ends up looking quite as good as the one in the photo. But I'm retired at 56 years old, so gotta do something. I've been planning my midlife crisis, but my wife isn't pleased with a number of the items on my to-do list, so that's probably out.
