About the course:
In this free tutorial you will learn all the steps necessary to create the abstract particles render shown in the promo video from start to finish using Houdini and Redshift.
This video is intended mostly for beginners and for anyone that may want to learn the basics of particle simulations, redshift instances and proxies, lighting and rendering tips.

We will cover topics such as:
Creating a random emitter for our particles, simple pop net simulation with several forces applied, caching and post processing the simulation, adding extra post-sim attribute that drive shaders in Redshift, working with camera, focus rig, volumetric lighting and Redshift + Altus denoiser render settings.

  • TIPP: At some point the stepping of the emitting particles is addressed. Istead of cranking up the substeps to 15, which slows down the simulation noticably, you can change the "Jitter Birth Time" in your POP Source to negative. This randomizes the birth and removes the stepping almost entirely without even adding one substeop. Amazing tutorial, such videos as yours make learning this (kind of) hard and complex software more fun to learn! thank you!"
  • Just wanted to tell you that you're amazing. I've been using Houdini for a little over a year now, and you are one of the best teachers that I've come across. Thanks for all of the hard work!
  • @AlexandrNewman
Jitter Birth Time set to negative helps with the stepping, so you could spare time on the substeps.

Very nice and well explained tutorial. It is so good that I was able to easly transfer the knowledge to 3Ds Max/tyFlow/Vray and get the same result. Thanks for sharing and keep it up.
  • @r3feel
Maybe is an basic question, but how could I export the geometry as polygons to use it on other programs? Thank you in advance.
  • @KevinKahwaty
Good afternoon, When I have been following your tutorial and when you check your render view for the first time in the material section I checked mine as well and all I render is white screen. I progressed through a little further and setup my lights to exactly what you have and still, all I get is a white screen. Any help?
  • @PiotrG1337
Great tutorial! I love how neat you work, I am the same!
  • @AikenIssenov
I tried to do without rs point instance, but it does not work, I created an attribute wrangle, prescribed the expression, but there is no button to add an object in the instance path. Please help me

I loved this tutorial Been trying to get into houdini and redhsift for a while now and i must say this tutorial taught me so much But i have this issue when i try to blend copper and gold with particle attribute node with attribute set as "Cd", i get no blend Am i missing something??

Hello. I am using Karma instead of Redshift and have difficulty getting same lightning effects/results. How would you recreate for example this spotlight that is in the background with out using Redshift? 40:43 Thank you!

Thanks for the amazing Tutorial. Really learned a lot along the way. One problem for me is, when i installed the Nodes by Dyne, i want to pen them but when i click on the RS_Point_Instance iam getting an error. AttributeError: 'dict' object has no attribute 'has_key. I was googleing it and i dont know what it causes the error, maybe something inside the script what Python 3 doesnt do in this way anymore ? Cant make it run, is there any workaround here ? I simply tried to do it by an attr._Wrangle but not sure if this will work out well. :(
  • Awesome tutorial! However my cache plays pretty slow, can you tell me your computer specifications so that I can figure it out?
  • @oliviernotot
    Only 360p Edit : ( not anymore ) Nice tutorial :)
  • @motiondeshahil
Can you export cd attributes it into c4d and render with redshift ? Can you guide me . There is no tutorial for that. Much help. Thanks..
