Money can be a tough subject to discuss—especially with kids. But while it may be difficult to share our income, expenses, or investing strategies with our children, research shows that money habits are learned and ingrained during childhood. In her eye-opening and instructive talk, Dr. Sirisha Kuchimanchi shares the importance of destigmatizing the conversation around money so that kids can grow up with real perspectives and feel empowered in their financial futures. She also addresses the role that discussions about income, expenses, and debt, as well as the act of giving kids spending power at an early age play in teaching good financial habits and setting them up for success.

Dr. Sirisha Kuchimanchi is a former Global Engineering & Manufacturing Executive at a Fortune 200 company. She co-chaired the Technology & Manufacturing Women’s ERG which supported over 500 employees across 3 continents and 8 countries. She is getting ready to launch “Sahita” a women-focused business enabling women to come together to build the Life of their dreams. Sirisha hosts the Podcast “Women, Career & Life” and the Radio Show “Life Beats with Sirisha”. Her podcast is listed in the top 30% of Spotify podcasts. Her mission is to provide practical ideas and resources for women to further their career & life goals as they strive toward financial independence. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

  • My advice to everyone is this : if you want to grow big this year especially in your finances. Be willing to take risks. Saving is great but taking risks puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. Thanks to larysa Caba, my portolio is doing really great and im proud of the decisions i made last year.
  • Usually I get bored very quickly by everything financial. But I listened to your talk right through to the end, dear Sirisha (lovely name!!!). You have the extraordinary ability to make finance interesting, though it is greatly halped by your wonderful sense of humour. You'reable to tell funny stories and anecdotes without actually laughing yourself. You must be the life of the party around the dinner table, and I'm sure that socially your company must be very much in demand, very sought-after - obviously as much for your intelligence as for your humour... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
  • Very well explained - ways to inculcate economic dealings for the younger generation , in her talk !! 👍👍👏👏👏👏

As a son of a father who rather dies instead of speaking up about his income and debt (that leads many times in our familiar life to really risk losing the house) even when me and my sisters have become adults with kids, I can confirm all she said. I have a natural behaviour of saving money (and occasionally investing it), but I didn't have any possibilities until I got away from my parents, because they were constantly taking my money. During my childhood I only learned how to hide money. But they were very good at finding and practically stooling it. My elder sister in fact has become good at begging and spending, and stooling when someone says No.
