Chickens deserve so much more respect
-
Anyone that would drive 15 hours to rescue chickens is someone that truly cares about animals. What a lovely story. I am so glad she is instilling this in her daughter, so she can always be there for animals in need.
-
On a separate note, I want to add that Cornish cross chickens (the breed Henrietta was) are bred to be meat birds. As a result, they rarely live to adulthood due to their hearts being too weak to support their bodies. The fact that Henrietta lived to be a year old shows that she was so unbelievably loved by her people, and they did everything they could to make her short life wonderful.

This was the happiest story and the saddest story. I wish more people could see the horrific cruelty in factory farming as well as that farm animals have just as much smarts and personality as the animals we consider pets.
-
The takeaway here is that factory farming conditions are horrifically cruel.
-
Humanity needs to wake up and treat the animals with respect and consideration
-
It’s astounding how cruel humans can be & that this type of farming goes on. Thank you for being a shining example of love & respect for all.

I'm a first-time chicken owner this year. I never thought of chickens being loving. Till I met my girls, these silly girls make me laugh every day, they are very loving, and they all have their own little personality. Every time they see me coming out they run to the gate to say hi, even when they see the car go by (they follow it as it drives by).

Even if you can save just 1life for a short time on this earth, it's truly worth it! Henrietta felt the love she deserved and will live for many more years in the hearts of her human family.

She looked so healthy when she was with you! You gave her her soul back and that's a gift that's worth the sadness of letting her go 💖

This little girl is going to be one helluva woman. Empathetic and compassionate.

Aww, so sweet! Chickens have so much more personality than they are given credit for. Thank you for giving her a loving home.

Don't get me sobbing again, dodo. Henrietta, such a sweetheart. I wish more people kept chickens as pets and loved them like this. 💖💔💖
