Congratulations to France! Condolences to Fiji. Blitzbokke, you're always number 1 to us 🇿🇦

Well done France, commiserations to Fiji ending their unbeaten run. Anton is fantastic and French Champion, European Champion and now Gold medallist in one season
  • @makeperceive
Congrats France, wonderful victory, enjoy best wishes from SA

From a South African. Well done France. Du Pont. Best 7vens player .Well done.
  • As a french, it's an amazing pleasure to win our first Gold medal in Paris by the hands of a player who made us cry not winning what it should have been his world cup in 15's. And an honor and a recognition to do that in such manner against the 7's legendary Fiji team. I know how historical they wanted to win, and they have our eternal respect. But god, how sweet taste this medal has !
  • It was the atmosphere that made it. We'll very likely never seen such a well attended 7s. Congrats France and thank you for making this such a riveting experience 🇿🇦
  • Dupont is only 27, whats he accomplished is absurb. The greatest rugby player debate is always a bit silly. Dupont is a special talent and is magic to watch. The man desrved to perform in front of his home country again and boy did he deliver when it mattered.
  • Good for Dupont. Such a shame fracturing his cheek bone in the world cup. This should definitely make up for it.🎉
  • Loved those matches - super happy for France to win gold! (even as a Saffa). Great for rugby too!
  • Well donne France. Dupont 2 tries, one assist!!! This team clicked perfectly today. Anyway, I thought Fiji would come on top. I love the 7s, i try to follow it each time so i thought that Fiji and Argentina would be the final. Congrats South Africa for the bronze medal !

And a super humble guy too. I loved the way the spectators treated the Fijians, with so much respect. Also, seeing the Fijians knee down to receive their medals was a lesson in humility. Bravo.

Incredible, I didn't think France would beat Fiji, so I know a lot of people don't like Dupont (the SA especially) but what a crazy player!! although I prefer to watch him at 15, the way he's adapted and risen to the challenge of the 7-a-side players is incredible! Respect
  • In any ball team sport, when France is at its highest level of creativity, it always benefits to the whole sport, for all the people practicing it all over the world. Be it volley-ball with NGapeth, Brizard or Grebennikov, Football with zidane, Basketball with TP, Diaw (he was the actual Dupont and Zidane of french basketball) and now Wembanyama, Jackson Richardson, Nikola Karabatic and Thierry Omeyer in handball, they always make that sport shine for all the people over the world. All these guys are role models in their sport. France is the best ball team sport nation in the world, that's a fact.
  • "I'm not saying he's the GOAT" ...but he is most definitely "le chèvre"!

ANOTINE DUPONT - BEST RUGBY PLAYER EVER FROM 🇮🇪
  • Torn about this. Rugby 7s represents Fiji’s Olympics but France and DuPont winning is great for rugby. I guess Fiji winning 2 golds and a silver over the last 3 Olympics isn’t bad going! Happy for any result that’s good for the game.

The tournament as a whole was memorable for all the right reasons. Close and dramatic matches and the fairytale ending, which doesn’t happen often in sport.
  • I don't understand people who still refuse to acknowledge Antoine Dupont's talent. What more does he need to do? He is everything that rugby has to offer. Even if a World Cup depends on the 15 players on the pitch, I hope he can make the difference in 2027 and help France win its first World Cup. He deserves this title more than anyone.
