Evansville: beats Kentucky Also Evansville: doesn’t win a single conference game

Literally the craziest basketball season I’ve witnessed. So sad it was cut short
  • A fun fact about Evansville (I only know this because I was there and I follow the team closely): Just about 2 weeks before UE played Kentucky, they played a pre-season exhibition game against a Division 2 school named USI. USI went to the Final Four in the last March Madness Tournament for D-II. This game was surprisingly very close and was tied with about 10 seconds left. With no time left an Evansville player named Artur Labinowicz shot a half courter and missed, but was fouled and got 3 free throws. At this point I was thinking this is academic, and there is no way they blow this now. He misses the first. I'm not too worried. He misses the second. I start to think "Is this really about to happen." Sure enough, he misses the third free throw and the game goes into overtime. We had some of the best seats in the house (we had our own chairs with wheels on them, and we had monitors that we could watch the arena feed, and some cable channels), and we were losing our minds. Luckily, we did end up avoiding embarrassment at the hands of a D-II school and won in OT. So if you ever think about this season and Evansville beating Kentucky, just know that Evansville nearly lost to a D-II school just about 2 weeks prior to this.

"And they are going to the NCAA's!" Who's gonna tell them
  • Honestly with how crazy Rutgers was at the RAC last year, then beating #9 Maryland at home is like barely an upset lol
  • @Terpsontop
Me a Maryland fan: this is not that entertaining
  • Michigan vs Oregon wasn’t a big upset 😂 both teams were evenly matched

Hard to believe this was only 8 months ago. Feels like watching black and white footage from the 1950s because it feels so unreal

Imagine if March Madness wasn’t cancelled
  • @amsalek
Damn I'd forgotten Duke lost at home against Stephen F Austin 😆
  • Man, if the pandemic didn’t cut the season short, Penn State would’ve made it to March Madness and might’ve had a good run. As a PSU fan, that hurts me.

I remember the Evansville Kentucky game. We had our yearly basketball tournament and the gym erupted when we heard the news

College basketball is amazing, the amount of upsets is amazing and in some ways better than the NBA, March Madness is literally Madness, and all of the Game Winners and crazy games make it so interesting. I don’t usually watch it but it is really cool how all of these “no name” schools are upsetting all of the really good teams like Duke and Maryland. Good video.

This season of play has been so forgotten as to how quick it was cut off. Sad.
  • Easily the best college basketball season in recent memory. Too bad the tournament was canceled 😔 GO FLYERS
  • best basketball season to have not crowned a champion i was really looking forward to March Madness and looked like tons of upsets were going to happen
  • Completely forgot about how crazy that season was. Makes me so sad watching those highlights thinking about those times 😢
