The El Loco coasters by S&S (known ingame as the Loony Turns Crazy One) are some of the most compact coasters in the world - yet they also feature some of the steepest drops, crazy curves, and unique inversions. In this video I'll show you how to build one of these - albeit it slightly derailed from the standard off-the-shelf model that many of them in real life follow.

As a note in hindsight, the POV definitely shows that this coaster is way too slow. All I can say is that the trims should've been quite a bit slower, and the block brakes shouldn't have removed the cars at all - it shouldn't be an issue to let these coasters run through their track at a pretty high speed.

About Planet Coaster College: PCC is a series of video guides in which I cover many aspects of making realistic and creative parks in Planet Coaster. One of my goals with the series is to make a video explaining each of the coaster types avaliable and show you how to build them, but there will also be some videos about elements of theme parks and the game in general, such as buildings and scenery. Overall, the series is directed toward already seasoned players of the games, though I do sprinkle tips that may be useful for beginners too.

I've been to Adventuredome in Las Vegas but it was before El Loco was built. I only got to ride the Canyon Blaster. I want to go back and give El Loco a try now. Thanks for the tutorial! Keep up the amazing work!
  • I've been on the green lantern coaster before and it was awesome. Like you discussed, it was high thrills on a compact and even slow track. It was interesting to connect my experience on the coaster to the building strategies you used to make this coaster. Great vid as always my dude, keep it up.

Dude, Planet Coaster should totally hire you to do tutorials for them. When I first found your channel, I just clicked on one of your videos while not even thinking about it. After I was finished watching, I looked at your channel name and I was amazed that you aren't the official Planet Coaster channel. You explain everything in such detail and everything is really easy to follow. Well done and keep up the great work!

I love the El Loco in game, easy to make crazy high excitement coasters with low nausea and fear. Also one of my favorites in real life!
  • Hey Silvarret, I've pretty much seen every video you ever uploaded, and I have to say that I really enjoy these tutorials. Not just because of the content (although that's great too) but because of the realtime narration. You are so comfortable to listen to! Your speedbuild-timelapses very often also include speedtalking ;-)

We have one in Australia at Movieworld called the Green Lantern, it's so good!!!

it gets me how similar Saw: the ride (in Thorpe Park) is, even though it's a steel eurofighter by Gerstlauer. it's a fantastic ride!

I've Rode one of these coasters in Flamingo Land in Yorkshire, England! They are so weird :)

Why do the coasters in Planet Coaster sound like Pinball Machines?
  • @meganriehl3005
this made me really happy because the first roller coaster i ever rode was one really similar to this at a county fair
  • @MagnumSanada
Oh wow, I was applying the Arrow Looper concepts to these, and came out with a crazy flexible family version of one of those. But for them to be this compact actually gives me quite a few ideas to build a completely indoor version of one of these.

Been looking forward to a new one of these for ages! Thanks Silv :D

Thanks for the video, super informative! I see these most often at carnivals -- built into maybe a 10m x10m space (like 30ft by 30ft maybe?). So, a very small area, but it's all track. They like to make these for kids, usually themed with mice carts or something. And yes, they get so crazy with their constant turns and ups and downs in such a small space. Heck, you could practically reach and touch another car or the track, though I don't recommend it :) They are definitely fun.
  • The colour scheme reminds me of Smiler from Alton Towers although that track is completely black

Pretty accurate; the first ever El Loco was built at my local park (Mumbo Jumbo at Flamingo Land - world's steepest rollercoaster in 2009 until Japan broke the record.), and I've rode it multiple times - this was pretty similar to it

Thanks so much for doing these videos silv! Really informative and fun to watch. :)

Silvarret you should go to a big "Kermis" (Tilburg one for example) those mostly have a small version of these rollecoasters, most are called wild mouse like you said.
