That was awesome, and thanks for the shoutout! Yeah this game is.... it's a good game but it's like a copy of something much better that was never completed. Which is what essentially happened. I recently talked to Cory Barlog who worked with George Miller on the true Fury Road tie-in game and he told me that this 2015 Avalanche game was built on the skeleton of what they were working on. Barlog and Miller came up with Scrotus and Chumbucket for their game. The story was obviously lifted from the official comic books (which Cory didn't read he told me so I urged him to check it out). But the worst offense from WB was that they didn't care what they were putting in their game. Furiosa is coming out in a year, so imagine this - this game showed us the main villain of Furiosa some odd... what, 8 years before the next film? No wonder George Miller's name is not in this game. There's a whole mission exploring 'Dementus' tomb' which also has spoilers about the upcoming film ON THE WALLS OF THE CAVE! I kid you not, go and visit that location and look at the murals - it's depicting a wasteland war between the Immortan and Dementus' gang over Gastown. They had the nerve to put that in the game. There are also other things, like Scrotus who will also show up in the next film but damn.... It's not as much as just butchering source material when it comes to the story. It's stomping all over it without any respect for the man who created it.

My favorite thing about this game is that WB was so confident that the game would sell super well that they added a DLC opinion in the main menu and then proceeded to never add DLC to the game.

The thing about Max not changing from the beginning of the game to the end is.. kind of the point? All these stories, from books, to movies, to games, involve some kind of character growth. But Max.. isn't a character. He is a vehicle (haha) that drives the plot forward around actual characters. He shows up, interacts with the locals, hijinks ensue, then off he goes. If he changed then he wouldn't really be "The Road Warrior" anymore. This mythical entity that is spoken of around camp fires, that may or may not even exist. For Mad Max to work he kind of has to stay static. Because that's how the stories are told. Not the one's we're told, but the ones this world tells. Looking at Max from the lens of these wasteland wackos he almost seems like an urban legend rather than a normal man.

Personally, I liked the ending. Ending it off with Max essentially back where he started fits well with the theme of despair and guilt. Plus, having it essentially function as "just another day" for him feels unabashedly badass.

This game is such an underrated gem and the fact that it didn’t get any dlc is such a shame

Honestly, hearing the story, it just kinda… Clicks, for me. Sure, lot of points are stupid. But, same happens in the Mad Max movies. And, honestly, it’s nice to see Max actually keep the Interceptor beyond just the first film.

Can we all just agree that Chumbucket was one of the coolest characters in that game? I swear he's only a few cybernetic implants away from becoming a 40k Mechanicus nerd and probably can outdo most of them through sheer know-how. His Angel Combustion is an avatar of the Omnisiah and he is one of its greatest worshipers.
  • this is a diamond in the middle of the games. The playtime is great, and the story is badass. Really good game, 10/10.

This game does car destruction justice. Is it "realistic?" No. Is it rad as hell? Hell yeah brothrr

I've always wished the Dev's would just give this game mod support. I'd PAY for a trickle of replayability at the end of this game. My favorite parts were just the insane car combat when you get more than 4 heavily armored vehicles making you sweat as you thread the needle. A New Game+ or just an Endless Wave mode would have made this game an easy 10/10 imo.

This game, Fallout 4, and Just Cause 3 were my holy trifecta throughout high school. Even made a stop motion video for class based off a mission from Mad Max using Hot Wheels and plasticine.

Maybe my standards are low, but I was blown away by this game, loved it. Really want a sequel.
  • @lekdenwimkida
I played this game for 176hrs and loved almost every hour. It's 100% one of the best games I've played ever.
  • @fricreepermc7520
this was personally my favorite ever game. i just wish it was longer
  • @VerdeMorte
Just so you know, the Interceptor flipping end over end while they're dancing is the EXACT same crash as what happens in Fury Road's beginning. And then Max meets a War Boy named Scab, who's giving you his blood, which is fed into Nux later when Max gets captured after the crash in Fury Road.
  • @EgggPriest
If you fully complete pink eyes quest then go to the gas station she gives you a picture of it has a secret set of wheels which are the best in the game, I was able to put the best pieces of armor on my car and still have positive handling because of this which is so good
  • @AlwaysSullied
Fun fact, you can play this game as a Car First Person Shooter, which makes the car combat even more insane.
  • @cavalr1002
I would personally say the ending is perfect. Because all of us have always known Mad Max as being alone on the road. Like all the other stories with him, it always ends up with him continuing his journey alone. While for a modern audience who has not watched all the movies, the ending would be very confusing yes. Max does not get his happy ending Because this ending has not happened yet. Sure, good and bad things might happen to him on the way, but his story is not done yet.
  • @stunthumb
Some of us are still out there in the wasteland, waiting patiently on some sort of sequel, prequel, whateverthefkuel. I loved the game, it's about as much fun as you can have in a gritty surivival environment. My playthrough was bugged though, otherwise I would have 100% everything. We still have hope for a sequel, good things sometimes survive years of bad taste.
  • I think the archangels in this game COULD’VE been more interesting/useful if they provided unique stats or effects you couldn’t find on a personal/custom Magnum Opus. For example: an archangel with high defense that wouldn’t hamper the acceleration of the vehicle too much in the same way heavy amounts of normal car armor would. Edit: I think it would’ve been nice if they also allowed you to redo outposts and conveys to give the game more replay value after it’s over- getting more use out of your beefed up Magnum Opus.
