I just can't imagine what people in the 90s felt when they saw Akuma in a X-Men fighting game.
  • @Despots_Blitz86
Having Akuma actually be in X-Men's story would be kinda funny-he obviously wouldn't be a hero, but I imagine if the villains tried to recruit him, he'd just kick all of their asses, too.

How ironic that Akuma started the "throw a character into a different game thats completely separated from the game's world" and did this twice, breaking both games. Such a fitting Akuma moment

I think Akuma's appearance in X-Men was what sparked rumors that Akuma was hidden in other Capcom games like Chronicles of Mystara, Alien vs. Predator, and Resident Evil 2.

Imagine being someone just messing around in the character select screen and somehow finding that secret input to get Akuma XD

Akuma having difficulty fighting against super-powered mutants is basically how it would go in the comic books. He can still potentially win but he has to work harder than he would against regular Street Fighter characters.

With all the homages it's made to the Capcom Vs series, how fucking hype would it be if Akuma (or at least a cameo) showed up in X-Men 97? 😅

The danger room stage still ranks as one of my favourite stages ever

You can get to Magneto as Akuma in the arcade version (Magneto will ALWAYS be after Juggernaut), but your beginning opponent has to be someone specific. You have to fight against either Sentinel, Spiral, Iceman, or Storm as your first opponent. So you can’t start against Omega Red, or Colossus. I may be missing who else you can’t start against with, someone you play against and your final opponent will end up being Iceman. Edit: Ok, so I saw a playthrough with the starting opponent as Omega Red, and he still ended up getting Magneto at the end. So maybe it’s just random chance you actually get to fight against Magneto. I’ll have to do some more digging.

Pretty sure Fatal Fury Special is the first game to include a crossover character in Fighting Game history. Hell, Ryo Sakazaki is the unsung hero of the FGC because SNK quite literally invented super moves, taunts, crossovers and more through him. Fatal Fury Special crossover inspired the King of Fighters and Super Smash Brothers.
  • And at this point Akuma became the immortal guest character to find and play as in the 90’s arcade series.
  • @rogsilva82
I believe the first crossover is Ryo in Fatal Fury Special

This isn't the only time that Akuma would be a fighting game guest character, In Cyberbots, We get a humanoid combat mech version of Akuma called Zero Akuma, And he gets added to Tekken 7 and is part of the games storyline.

With CPS2 sprite modding becoming more accessible, I really hope someone mods his Alpha sprites in so he fits in a little better. Also fun fact, Akuma was included due to the contract stipulation, as Marvel required Capcom included a Street Fighter character in the game as part of their agreement.

Akuma is so small and short in this game he gives Logan a squat for his money
  • @cooblur
The 1st time I saw Akuma perform a Ragin Demon...was while playing arcade mode X-Men vs Street Fighter. I Thought the game broke then I saw his back pose!!! GREATEST CHILDHOOD MEMORIES EVER
  • @anonluxor470
And since then Akuma and wolverine has become the best friends forever
