This is an antiques roadshow level history of the guitar. They should get him on the show for vintage guitars!
  • I met Mike Longworth about 30 yrs ago. I found a beat up 1942 00-18 and I drove up to Nazareth from Virginia and Mike personally restored it as a labor of love. He also gave me a personal tour of the factory, I also got to play a few guitars that just came off the production line.

Thanks for the history lesson Mr. Gruhn. Beautiful guitar! I had the pleasure of visiting your shop 4 years ago and can't thank your staff enough for making my wife and I feel right at home.

Boy It’s Been years since I heard anything about Longworth’. Bought his 1st edition book 40 years ago. Back in the day we’ll before Internet-there was just a few Books on vintage guitars. Old catalogs were some only sources. And there was a great publication called Crecendo’ from the teens that focused on string instruments that featured artists and their instruments

You are a great treasure to the guitar community, George- as was Mr. Longworth. Interesting tie in to my history with Mike was towards the end of his life, and when I was a 'fledgeling' restoration luthier. I happened upon a gentleman in Boulder- who had some Martin pre fire era documents regarding production, and I got ahold of him, and connected the two gentleman. I like to think that I helped him (and Martin) reconnect with part of thier history! Anyway, thank you for doing this on YouTube!

  • That’s a beauty! I think I’ll wait for the after Christmas sale! Or I could sell my house. Seriously, that thing rings like a bell!
