Let's crack it open and see if we can fix it.
Hope you enjoy!

PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Please don't copy me - I'm an idiot.

"I might regret it, but I'm going to give it a go" is why I love this channel, together with how rare it is for regret to happen.
-
I literally laughed harder than I needed to when he said he didn't connect the battery.
-
While charging the load on those small connectors is close to the limit. Hence it would be better connecting both GND and both Power pins (mirrored left and right) as the load would be distributed on two pins each.

At this point, I think Steve has a bluetooth speaker for ever corner of every room of his house.

StezStix Fix was filmed before a live studio audience.

So if you look at the board, the middle two pins go to vias through the board. I'm guessing there is a resistor on the other side of the board that those go to. This is important for the USB-C port, as it is the way the device communicates that it is capable of other charge speeds and voltages. So as assembled, I believe you'll only be able to do 5v charging at the 'slow' speed with any chargers that limit the speed.

I find it amusing that you often say "Stupid"
in many of your videos, especially when it comes to video games. Made me chuckle when you said "Stupid Speaker" ;) -
Saturday night, a few beers in me, feeling mellow and Steve fixes another bluetooth speaker. Who could ask for more ? Nice one Steve, keep them coming 😊

Im proud of Steve for pronouncing aluminum correctly.

PM Dawn came on the radio a couple of days ago (Set A Drift On Memory Bliss), and it sounded identical to one of your musical creations. I just p****d myself laughing, legend. Keep the content going, brill.

Tronsmart is that kind of brand that deserves so much more love. Once I got the Bang Max, I never went back :)

Yay! More fixies!

I report that today I repaired a VCR. 2 belts needed replacement but 1 of them was hidden so deep I had to take apart a huge chunk of the device and figure out why winding and eject doesn't work properly still. Turns out the tray wasn't lowering enough so I had to fiddle with the gears a little, now it works like a charm :) Fixing stuff is awesome! Update: nah, it's not fixed, it's taking and ejecting the tape fine, winding and playing works on a mechanical level, but the tape goes soo slow for some reason... I need to figure it out later but I spent the whole day tinkering with it, I put it away for now.

Good fix. I just want to point out one thing: Devices that is charging via USB-C generally needs to have 5k1 ohm pull down resistors on CC1 and CC2 to identify its self on the upstream device. There is a chance the manufacturer didn't bother putting in those resistors or maybe thats what the middle pinsgo to via the vias (5:48), although I doubt that (probably data). But if you are having trouble charging the device with a usb-c to usb-c cable then the missing resistors might be the reason. Then again Raspberry foundation managed to leave out one of the resistors on one of their Pi (3?) and that device still worked with most chargers

The rawest of repair channels still, Steve. Keep up with it and can't wait for the 1M to arrive down the road.

Great video as usual Steve. “Silver linings and all that…” lmfao.

When are the "Why's it doin that?" t-shirts coming?

A thought went through my head just the instant he said he's going to put it back together: "Don't forget to connect the battery, Steve!". Lolsome moment.
