“It’s very important pieces of military kit. Like Storm Shadow missiles, some boats and maritime artillery. This sort of stuff really counts.”

Rishi Sunak promises Ukraine another £500 million of funding which will “not make it easy for Russia”, says former UK foreign secretary William Hague on #TimesRadio.

To the Republicans or any American who says this is not our fight, ya need to read the history of the second world war. And I mean the political history. We, America doesn't live in a blissful vacuum where we can ignore the problems of the rest of the world while we suckle on the nectar of prosperity. Grow up.
  • The average citizen is not 'bored' with helping Ukraine - in fact - the opposite! is true Only reporters are.
  • The frontline is 1200km 2km deep makes 2400 km2 massive need for ammo for AFU

It wasn't the Republican party that was tired to supporting Ukraine, it was the maga faction and trump that aligned itself to Putin, which is very worrying. Overall the American politicians back Ukraine, even with the desenting maga faction, shown by the ease of which the bill was passed once it was allowed to be voted on. Ukraine's security and sovereignty matters, we should've supported them in 2014 when Putin took Crimea by force. ❤🇺🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸❤

The idea that Rwanda will be a deterrent could have only been thought up by rich politicians who’ve never lived in the real world.

If US sending Attacms 300 km shouldn't Germany actually send the Taurus now.

Thanks Lorenzo. I will study your response. I am no military expert but I try to learn as such as I can. There is alot of information out there. Hard to keep up. Especially now. Everything seems to be speeding up.
  • The democrats here in the US wanted the aid for Ukraine , but the republicans ( under Trump ) said no . Speaker Mike Johnson (R) gave the nod to give $ 62 billion . Thank God .

I've lived in Darwin since 1991, and watched the effective imprisonment without trial of asylum seekers on Manus Island, the attempts of the Australian government to prevent information about their condition getting out, the spiralling into self-harm of despairing children. The Australian government was quite content to hold these people offshore indefinitely, not for what they had done, but as an ongoing warning to others intending to make the journey. Yes, the policy did stop the boats, but at what human cost? Most societies punish an individual for a crime they've committed; they don't punish a person for a crime someone else might commit in the future! The mal-treatment by guards, sexual or otherwise, lack of medical and psychological support - for the asylum seekers on Manus Island, a nightmare potentially without end. Utterly barbaric. I was ashamed to be Australian. A child of empire and a dual national, I fear I'm about to be ashamed to be British too. I have spent time in West Africa, the Congo, but not Rwanda. Nevertheless, any treaty designed to protect deportees is, I believe, not worth the paper it's written on.

What do you mean by bored? A problem doesn’t get solved just because you are bored it gets solved by you hanging in and keep on fighting and contribute with whatever you can whenever you can… I think it’s more the journalist who wants to have a story or the Russian propaganda who gets through to some people. I’m from Denmark and we follow it closely. We have our daily live here in Denmark, but we don’t get bored hearing about how we can help Ukraine.

Recently I have been watching and reading more US political comment than is healthy, listening to our politicians discussing our issues makes me really proud to be a Brit. Courtesy , decorum, agreement on common ground whilst putting alternative points are what serious politics should be about. An excellent discussion between respectful adults where the result was qualified agreement. Host was perfect too...
  • This moment reminds me of when I was a kid and a bully five years older than me was messing with me. Then I went home and got my big brother. The guy was quiet as a mouse. Ohhh, who's the big bully now?

Tony Abbott tried the same thing in Australia, it didn't work PNG decided they wouldn't keep them unless they kept getting paid, with the threat to help them travel back to Australia. Those that were stockpiled on Nauru eventually had to be released into Australia when the high court outlawed indefinite detention for people that had committed no crime. The UK House of Lords will strike down exporting of immigrants and indefinite detention.

To a certain extent we in Europe (the continent that incited at least 2 world wars) should be ashamed that we cannot supply Ukraine with the military equipment that they need to win this war and have to look at the USA for help!
