Thanks for this tutorial, amazing! What type of fabric do you use for this? And also what do you call the elastic around the edges? Like what do I type to find the correct one on Amazon or wherever? Thanks 😊

For those new to sewing - note that she is slightly stretching the elastic as she sews it on.
  • I have spent hours trying to make patterns on paper and this is brilliant! Thanks

Wouldn't these end up slightly smaller than the original pair, since she didn't add any allowance for folding down the openings? Or am I being dumb cause it's way past my bedtime.

The idea of tracing the pattern onto something clear may have just solved a different sewing project issue I was having. Thanks for the epiphany.

Great instructions. Thank you. I’ve just made my pattern - so easy. But I used the plastic bag from a large cereal box - it’s much thicker and sturdier. I traced the outline with a marker pen.

About 5 yrs ago, was learning to sew in college classes. I made a UK size 10 and it kept stretching to 28 🤣. You have to be careful the grain of the cloth.

I just used a worn pair I removed threading for a pattern. Very easy and one less step. Just clip the sides your good to go. Thank you for clear instruction’s as I’m fairly new at sewing clothing for myself although I used to sew with mom. it’s been a few years, I really needed this refresher.
  • I've been making my own underwear for years with nylon tricot and lingerie elastic. The elastic she used is called "picot edge" elastic. That's because of the little scallop along one side. Tricot fabric has its greatest stretch on the crosswise knit for going around the body. Not as much, if at all, on the lengthwise knit because you want stability so it won't droop. Four-way stretch fabric fits tighter, but is more expensive and often comes with spandex in the fibers. You can also use a plain, soft cotton two-way stretch knit, which is what hers looks like in the video. Great use of a plastic bag to make the pattern. Kwik Sew and Stretch & Sew both have underwear patterns. No affiliation with either, just have used their patterns for years and years.
  • Идея с использованием полиэтиленовыми покетами мне очень нравится, почему я это незнала, спасибо большое вам.

Thank you!!! This looks so much easier than trying to use a purchased pattern!
  • I was taught to use heavy duty Pellon (a woven sheer interlining fabric) to make permanent patterns when I took sewing classes from a professional seamstress. We learned how to make underwear, slips, bathing suits, T shirts, dresses, nightgowns, etc.

Such a great idea using the plastic bag for a pattern! You made it easy so we can make out own underwater. Thank you for sharing.

То, что ты делаешь для себя своими руками несет другую энергию. Я чувствую себя очень уютно в сшитых мною вещах.

Спасибо. Очень вовремя, просто и понятно. Будем шить👍👋

When I want to make a sturdy pattern I use on sale heavy weight gift wrapping paper. Also if you have that broken zig zag stitch on your sewing machine that's what you're supposed to use on elastic. Other than that great video. You might want to consider for what you're saving to make your panties out of silk because they're very breathable soft and comfortable and very durable. Much more durable than knit Cotton. you only have to back stitch once at the end if you're sewing in the round
  • 買った方が楽で早いとこの動画をみて実感しました。ズボラには無理です

Okay. This is the perfect lesson in creating one's own underwear. Recently decided to try cutting and sewing, but decided it would be difficult. And now, thanks to you, I will begin again... Thank you for sharing your cutting and sewing techniques!
