Two trains "Interacting" is the most polite way I've ever heard of saying obliterate each other.
  • As a former maintenance man at a smaller amusement park I can say this is spot on! If something was broken or even if we had any doubts the ride was closed immediately and repaired and stayed closed until it was100%. The safety of our guests was OUR SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT FUNCTION.

I am a ride operator and if im being honest, most issues we have with coasters are because people didn't listen to the rules. Nothing catastrophic of course, but its definitely annoying when somebody is told not to do something, they do it anyways, and we have to stop everything because of it...

Your voice has to be the most reassuring voice I’ve ever heard! You ought to read those pre-flight articles they give about what to do in an emergency, I’d be super reassured if I heard your calm, collected voice.

I have to admit, this actually did alleviate some of my fears of roller coasters. I honestly think my main issue is a fear of heights. Thank you for making this video.

This video deserves to be the most viewed YouTube video ever because everyone needs to know that roller coasters are safe.

It’s so interesting to hear about things that tend to scare guests (such as lift hills clicking) is actually an additional safety measure (the clicking is the mechanical pin preventing the train from falling back, right?)

Dude most parks don’t mess around with safety in the slightest. They have safety inspections on every ride in the morning, including test rides and having to lock and unlock every single restraint on every ride to make sure they work correctly, and at the park I worked at they required us to shut down the ride for a wide variety of scenarios. Smell something unusual that somehow seems to be coming from the ride? Downtime. Something not sounding right? Downtime. Someone unbuckled their seatbelt while they were on the lift? Downtime. Saw a random screw on the floor? Call maintenance to make sure it’s not part of the ride, and you guessed it, downtime. Literally for like any reason at all where the ride seemed even a little unsafe, it was downtime. The only exception was for weather, but that was because the rides office monitored it for us and told us when the weather would be deemed unsafe for whatever ride we were working at.

Final destination messed me up but this video really helped
  • I love this it makes it me not much that scared of roller coasters

I remember once an operator telling me they had to stop and do a test run because a light went out. Shows how vigilant they can be

If you class rollercoasters as a form of transportation, they're safer than trains or planes. Same thing with elevators.

I absolutely hate the media. 'Overreacting' would not even be close enough to a good word to describe them. Apparently, being evacuated safely from a roller coaster (a well-prepared and very safety-conscious procedure) is enough to make the headlines on the evening news. ITV News is by far the worst. Even today, they are still mentioning 'The Smiler' incident despite the fact it happened ages ago now.
  • Don't forget ride inspections too. I used to work at Galaxyland (home of the Mindbender) and ever since the accident in 1986, the ride undergoes numerous inspections where the ride is shut down for approximately 30 minutes a time during the day and this can happen up to 3-4 times a day. Lots of people assume it's because the Mindbender is unsafe, but with all these inspections that happen, it's actually one of the safest rollercoasters in the world right now.

I would love to see news media using the word "interact" or "interacting" while talking about other topics. Such as: The drunk driver's car interacted with the transformer box, causing a blackout that lasted for 3 weeks. The MCAS failure on the airplane led to that airplane prematurely interacting with the ground. The shady guy in the alley was said to have been only interacting with the victim when police showed up. And so on.
  • @RachelSalvadore
The clicking noise on the lift hill made me scared but now it makes me feel safe! Thank you so much for this video! It actually helped with my fear

I'm glad I watched this. Roller coasters didn't bother me much until I developed severe anxiety and panic disorder. I always worried about the restraints on some, except for the coasters where your tummy is faced down, because they usually have a key and "lock" you in. It's a comforting feeling. I always pulled the restraints so far down that my hips would hurt afterwards lol.
  • I'm really happy to hear about the anti roll back feature. I always get paranoid about that on coasters
  • @ravendevino6419
It was really helpful to explain that not every ride stoppage means the roller coaster is broken. Also, super happy to see footage of Hydra and Talon from my local park, Dorney Park.

Your more likely to get killed by a falling donkey then dying in a theme park
