Published 2015-09-02
Thank you all for your great comments! I'm so happy to be doing this show again.

What a stressful day it's been. It'll be nice to sit down and talk about videa' gaaaaaaames!

I definitely find myself leaning on the simulation side, but I find the reason is that my mind is nearly unable to leave "game" mode when I'm playing a game.In that I mean when I play a game, I know it's a game and I want to experience everything the game has to offer. In doing this, I find myself taking hours in parts of a game that most people finish in less than an hour. After doing that, I'm bored and leave the game. I really feel that I love many RPGs, but most of them fall into the trap where I never feel like I'm immersed in the world and am rather simply a gamer looking to see all the content stuffed into it.As a part of this, I find that emergent games that have no way of experiencing everything are my favorite, my favorite publisher right now being Paradox mainly due to their internally developed (PDS) games. When I saw the announcement of Stellaris, I was pretty excited as it seems pretty amazing, although I hope they fully migrate to GOG by then....

Man if you are still into the VR did you see the Vive stuff! Actually got me a little enthusiastic, which is not really where I was back when you covered it. Hopefully a less stressful day today! Oh a tiny note the setting of the game played really affects the mood don't you think! Guessing this is a great way to relieve stress but liked the vibrance of HOTS in the background to your talking glhf

I used to enjoy RPS until last year when they showed a quite horrible side and refused to talk about it. I like my gaming news to be about gaming, not social issues.

Also, if you want a co-host on Fridays or Mondays, I'm free.

I haven't had the chance to see the VR stuff, but I might buy the Oculus VR soon. Immersion is pretty important to me, but proper fps, controls, and mechanics can really break immersion for me. Also, I'm tired of seeing CG trailers of games, because almost every time the game is no where close to in-game and have serious performance issues on PC. The big issue I see is companies taking IP over, saying they love the brand, and then handing off the development to another house while focusing on one of their random projects that has a large following. We've seen it with Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever. I've started to play less AAA games and play games like 7 days to die and Company of Heroes 2.

Wow, quite a few topics in this one. As far as trailers/hype/marketing go, I've adopted the attitude of "I'll believe it when I see it." I've simply been burnt too many times in the past that I'm a jaded old man when it comes to video games. The last game that I was really excited for and completely let me down was Bioshock Infinite. While many people will say that Bioshock 1 & 2 were dumbed down from System Shock (and I'd agree with this to a certain extent), I still found that those games mostly held up on their own as enjoyable games. Infinite, however, unique all of the unique and interesting ideas that the series had and was nothing more than a stock console shooter (and a bad one at that). Now, I'll have games that I keep an eye on before they release, but won't buy unless I read/watch a review from a trusted source or can find for dirt cheap. And that's actually my attitude on VR: I don't care about it until it's out in the open and I can learn what other gamers have to say about it.

You mentioned my name! I guess I'm famous now :D I'm very worried about Battlefront, it seems like it's going to be a very casual, consolized experience. I'm not a fan of PC masterrace talk, but with this game it might be justified :(

Whats your opinion on Remastered games really taking a foothold this generation. And whats your opinion on remasters in general :)

What new Thief game? I recall there was something called Thief that didn't resemble Thief at all and was somehow allowed to use the same intellectual property, but there's no actual new Thief game. Unless you mean Dishonored, in which case yes, that was a really great Thief game and I cannot wait for the sequel, and if they've noobed that up then I'm just going to kill myself.
