How packed was Carlaw Park? 18,000 crammed in. Imagine though if the Kiwis had held on for 2 or 3 more minutes and won this one.

I was a spectator at that game, stood on the old grass bank, the crowd was absolutely stunned when John Ribot scored. There was a deliberate knock on by Aussie winger Fergusson, in this day and age would probably be a sin binning. Looking at the footage, it seemed like a sloppy performance from Australia.
