You keep stepping up your ad game like this, I'm gonna need a highlight reel. This stuff is too good Bob wtf.

Bahb is totally right that it makes no sense to buy an Android phone just to emulate games. But for those of us who already have an Android and an 8bitdo controller, it's a lot harder to spend another hundred bucks on a dedicated emulation box. Great video!!
  • @grnpyro5110
So the controller that looks and functions like a joy-con has drifting issues? 🤔
  • I've had this device for a while, thanks for the info on the apps you use! Definitely gonna set it up like that
  • @BonsaiPop
Bob when the pandemonium is over we gotta hangout and make some ads, you gotta show me how you light your shots, I’m only a hop skip away
  • @SquishyHo
thanks for the info Bob! I wanted to get back into emulating on my android but didn't know where to start :)

This vid is sick, I have newfound hope for a clean looking emulation setup. Thanks for posting it!

I think a really important thing to note though over the dedicated handhelds for emulation is that the phone is so much more flexible. It's like the argument pc players make that you can use it for a lot more. Want to play android games too? Cool. Want to set it up to listen to podcasts or music, if you have limited space on your main phone this could be an option. In a pinch when traveling, if your main phone dies you can just throw your Sim card in this (pack a sim ejection tool), and you have a fully charged device. You main phone breaks, you can use this one in the meantime while you wait for a replacement.
  • You should have a separate video with just your ad spots on it. Your video quality of your ads are awesome. You're one of the few YouTubers I watch the ads because they're so good and interesting.

Thanks for posting you always post a lot of valuable information your reviews are spot on. Thanks to this video I started using my phone along with the Razer Kishi for emulators and its great. I love being able to play 8 and 16 bit oldies on the go or just lounging at home on my couch
  • When retro games become too expensive (prices going up), I already have an android phone and emulation has been amazing (with slight lag once in a while). I use a Razer Kishi, and it's great.

Been doing it for years. I use My Boy and Drastic for GBA and DS support. Paired with an 8bito pro + with the phone grip, gets the job done easy

Another good controller for android which also has an option for iphone is the gamesir x2. They have a version for each iphone and android that just uses the charing port for power or a bluetooth verson thay works for both. The style i think makes it look like a switch. Id check one of those out for emulation too. Works well

LMAO, I subscribed because of that Lumin add man. Laughed so hard at it. Also your content is excellent.

Totally agree that this is probably the best option that's out right now (assuming you already have a phone for it). I recently turned my old Samsung Galaxy S9 into one of these and have been using it to play anything up to the Dreamcast (as well as some PS5 and PC through streaming) and love it. In fact, I've actually been using it and the built in screen recorder on my phone to record gameplay for reviews on my channel (which look great, given the 1080p recording and the 19Mbps bitrate)

Wulf Den: I set up my phone as an emulator. 2011: Welcome. Glad you made it.

Hey Bob, I always love your videos. One random thing I appreciate about you is you don't talk in the same artificial tone that some youtubers do. You sound natural and interesting to listen to. Keep it up
  • @justintodd701
I just installed lemuroid and started to use my phone as a portable emulator, so this is like a dream episode
  • @wavecast64
Dig is definitely worth figuring out. It's flexible to where you can choose the background images and music for individual systems or however you'd like. A good idea is to use one of the themes that's closest to what you'd like and adjust it from there. There are good tutorials on youtube and with 30 mins of tinkering you can make your dream frontend
