“Kinderszenen” meaning “Scenes from Childhood” in English, is a series of short pieces that were published by Robert Schumann in 1838. Two years later he mentioned that they were set apart from his previous works as “more cheerful, gentler, more melodic”. He wrote thirty movements, but only published thirteen in his final version. He also mentioned that the short, sweet peices were inspired by his wife when she said he was “like a child”.
